Position Summary

The Technology Associate will be the first point of contact for all technology hardware and software-related help desk issues as well as responsible for managing installations and repairs for the network systems. He/she/they will also support operations at the school level by working closely with the Operations team at each of the three school locations. The Technology Associate will also be a thought partner in technology plan discussions. 

Essential Responsibilities

Help Desk Support

  • Manage and respond to staff support requests through Freshdesk.
  • Provides ongoing advice and support to general troubleshooting inquiries for hardware/software problems to staff and families. 
  • Provides local support and troubleshooting for information and database systems used within the organization.
  • Assists with ensuring leaders have technology, software or applications for leading staff-wide professional development presentations. Provides support and training on implementing technology curriculum and tech equipment in the classroom.
  • Assists with ensuring students and staff have access to digital platforms and softwares.

Network & Hardware Management

  • Maintains hardware inventory at each school locations
  • Troubleshoot hardware and software issues with classroom technology, including promethean boards, document cameras, VoIP phone and other instructional technology.
  • Oversee annual cleaning and repair of devices. 
  • Oversee procedures for on/off-boarding employees and students, including training and acclimating employees to hardware and software. 
  • Prepare hardware for on-site computer-based testing.
  • Communicate with third-party network vendors to troubleshoot network repairs.
  • Troubleshooting system failures and identifying roadblocks in the network
  • Evaluating network performance to improve the network
  • Provide technical support for printers, including setup, configuration, and troubleshooting

Support School Level Data Systems

  • Perform both low and high-level data entry and administration tasks within our SIS system
  • Support school operations teams with data compliance checks and audits of student information systems.
  • Collaborate with systems administrators in essential implementation or upgrades.

Minimum Experience and Qualifications 

  • Associates Degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, or other relevant fields. 
  • 1 year experience working in a technology position, overseeing helpdesk,  hardware, & network issues.
  • Strong command of all Microsoft Office and Google Suite programs.
  • Knowledge of a variety of hardware operating systems, such as windows operating systems and Chromebooks.
  • Willingness to travel to all school locations.
  • Completion and clearance in pre-employment Fingerprinting and Reference check process.
  • Must be legally authorized to work in the United States and must not require employer sponsorship for employment visa status, either now or in the future. Amber Charter Schools does not provide employment visa sponsorship.
  • Perform other duties as assigned Technology Manager.

Preferred Experience and Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Information Technology, Information Systems, Computer Science, or other relevant fields. 
  • 2 years experience working in a technology position, overseeing helpdesk,  hardware, & network issues.
  • Previous experience with network planning and general network best practices.
  • Experience with SaaS.
  • Experience with Student Information Systems, preferably PowerSchool 
  • Familiarity with advanced spreadsheet functions (pivot tables, h/v-lookup, infographic creation, statistics, etc.) and statistical software (SPSS, Stata, Tableau, etc.)
  • Experience with Linkit!, i-Ready, and the NYSTP (New York State Testing Program assessment). 
  • Great time and task management; an ability to prioritize, manage multiple obligations and initiatives, and follow through.
  • Excellent communicator who distills and explains complex technical ideas to non-technical audiences.
  • Strong written and verbal skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, results-oriented environment; flexible, able to work autonomously and on a team and take direction as needed.
  • Strong attention to detail; able to develop and maintain organizational and documentation systems.
  • Knowledge of network, server, and cloud protocols.

Work Schedule

  • 12 month work schedule
  • In- Person 
  • Availability to travel between three school locations if needed (East Harlem, Bronx, and Upper Manhattan)

Work Environment/Physical Effort:  

  • Regularly required to sit, stand for long periods of time, walk, climb stairs, speak loudly and clearly, visually observe, hear, operate a computer, and other classroom, school, and office equipment, reach with hands and arms, bend down, and must occasionally lift, move and/or support up to 20 pounds. Work is being performed in a traditional multi-floor school environment with limited to no elevator access.

Compensation

Amber Charter Schools strictly follow a salary schedule for each role to ensure our continued commitment towards pay equity. The expected salary range  for this role is $58,500 - $62,063 depending on verified relevant work experience, highest level of completed education, and required certifications and/or licenses for the role. This is an exempt position.
