The  is seeking a Laboratory Technologist with molecular or histocompatibility experience to join their team. Our laboratory testing focuses on molecular methodologies including Next Generation Sequencing (NGS), in addition to serology. Areas of innovation include development and evaluation of new clinical assays for patient-donor pre-transplant evaluation and post-transplantation monitoring.

 

We offer an on-the-job training program in histocompatibility allowing the opportunity to apply for a New York State Histocompatibility restricted license.

 

Role Overview:

  • Perform and maintain competency in the technical and related work in the Histocompatibility Laboratory to support the hospital's Hematopoietic Stem Cell and Bone Marrow transplantation program. Testing includes DNA extraction, PCR, HLA typing by NGS, engraftment monitoring by NGS, KIR typing, and HLA antibody screening.
  • Interpret molecular data for patient and donor testing.
  • Have the opportunity to assist with the development and evaluation of new clinical assays for patient-donor pre-transplant evaluation and post-transplantation monitoring.
  • Contribute to translational research projects. 
  • Assure the accuracy of all tests performed by adhering to the Laboratory's Standard Operating Procedures
  • Create and help maintain an environment that emphasizes safety following New York State DOH, ASHI, Joint Commission, OSHA and CLIA regulations
  • Perform routine and advanced equipment maintenance
  • Contribute to the upkeep and safety of the Laboratory and assures a clean, safe, adequately supplied work area
  • Participate in the laboratory inventory program that provides adequate inventories of reagents and supplies
  • Provide direction, training, and feedback on routine laboratory procedures, as assigned
  • Maintain complete, accurate, legible, neat, organized, up-to-date records/logs/files

Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Sciences
  • A NY State Clinical Laboratory Technologist License required or eligible to apply for NY license or Histocompatibility restricted license
  • 2+ years of experience working in a clinical laboratory required
  • 2+ years of experience working in a molecular laboratory strongly preferred.
  • Excellent computer, verbal and written communication skills
  • ASCP certification preferred

 

Additional Information:

  • 37.5 hours per week
  • Monday - Friday, 9am to 5pm

 

Pay Range: $47.23 - $75.59

 

FSLA Status: Non-Exempt

Skills Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or Clinical Laboratory Sciences
