As a Maintenance Technician II, you will play a key role in ensuring the reliability, safety, and mission readiness of Shield AI’s X-Bat unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) and associated Ground Support Equipment (GSE). This role supports day-to-day aircraft maintenance, troubleshooting, inspection, repair, and documentation while working closely with cross-functional teams to improve maintenance practices.
What you’ll do:
- Conduct organizational-level maintenance on X-BAT unmanned aircraft systems and associated GSE.
- ·Inspect, troubleshoot, repair, and maintain aircraft systems, components, and associated equipment.
- Use technical manuals, work instructions, engineering drawings, inspection criteria, torque specifications, and service bulletins to complete maintenance accurately and safely.
- Document inspections, discrepancies, repairs, component replacements, and other maintenance actions in accordance with company procedures and applicable quality requirements.
- Construct wiring harnesses and solder necessary components to maintain X-BAT unmanned aircraft systems and associated GSE.
- Comply with written training and certification requirements for maintenance personnel.
- ·Support the development and improvement of maintenance task instructions, inspection checklists, and future maintenance manuals.
- Build relationships with engineering, quality, production, flight operations, supply chain, and field support to ensure maintenance best practices are in place.
- Comply with the company’s tool control, Foreign Object Debris (FOD) prevention, Hazardous Materials (HAZMAT), Electrostatic Discharge (ESD), and safety programs.
Required qualifications:
- Experience in aviation maintenance and operations, including coordination across multiple departments.
- Ability to read and follow technical manuals, illustrated parts catalogs, engineering drawings, torque specifications, inspection criteria, and maintenance work instructions.
- Proficiency using maintenance tools and precision measuring equipment, including torque wrenches, calipers, micrometers, feeler gauges, and related inspection tools.
- Ability to inspect aircraft components for wear, cracks, corrosion, damage, and compliance with applicable inspection criteria.
- Ability to maintain accurate maintenance, inspection, configuration, and quality records.
- Ability to travel as needed.
- Ability to obtain a U.S. security clearance.
- Significant experience and proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proven record of working hard, being a trustworthy teammate, holding yourself and others to high standards, and showing kindness to others.
- U.S.-issued passport.
Preferred qualifications:
- FAA Airframe and Powerplant (A&P) license or equivalent internal or external certification demonstrating technical competency.
- Experience with unmanned aerial systems.
- Ducted-fan VTOL aircraft, or expeditionary UAS operations.
- Experience with Group 2 or Group 3 UAS maintenance, field support, launch and recovery operations, or deployed aviation maintenance environments.
- Experience in avionics.
- IPC certification.
- Experience with maintenance data collection, failure reporting, root-cause analysis, continuous improvement, or development of maintenance work instructions.
