Position Summary: Technical Writer

 The Technical Writer is responsible for maintaining and controlling documentation that supports Manufacturing Operations, Quality Control requirements, Training and Engineering. This role is also responsible for driving operational consistency, process standardization, and continuous improvement across the organization. The Technical Writer ensures the accuracy, integrity, and accessibility of controlled documents, including SOPs, work instructions, process maps, training materials, and operational standards. This role will coordinate document reviews and revisions and maintain electronic documentation systems to ensure compliance with internal standards and applicable regulations.

Requirements

  

Primary Duties:

 · Function as a team writer across multiple departments- including operations, quality, and engineering.

· Develop, maintain, and improve SOPs, work instructions, process documentation, job aids, and operational standards.

· Establish and enforce documentation standards, templates, naming conventions, and version control practices.

· Translate complex technical and operational processes into clear, concise, user-friendly documentation.

· Ensure consistency of terminology, formatting, style, and content across all operational documentation.

· Assign, track, and manage document identification numbers and version control to ensure document integrity and traceability.

· Interview and work with subject matter experts and translate detailed technical information into easy-to-understand help material.

· Support onboarding, training, and workforce development initiatives by creating and maintaining learning materials.

· Build and maintain cross-team relationships.

· Review documents for accuracy, completeness, formatting consistency, and compliance with company standards and regulatory requirements.

· Monitor document workflows and follow up with stakeholders to ensure timely reviews, approvals, and implementation of revisions.

· Participate in internal and external audits by providing documentation and records as requested.

· Identify opportunities for process improvements related to document control and records management.

Experience & Skills:

 · Knowledge of document control principles, records management practices, and regulatory compliance requirements.

· 2+ years’ related experience in document control, quality systems, and manufacturing support.

· Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

· Strong organization skills with exceptional diligence and accuracy.

· Excellent verbal/listening skills; courteous and professional.

· Ability to synthesize information from multiple sources and explain complex concepts in a simple format.

· Aptitude for collaborating with a range of roles and personalities.

· Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines in a demanding environment.

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.

· Experience supporting audits.

· Knowledge of quality management systems and change control processes. 

· Must be able to thrive in a demanding environment with an emphasis on teamwork, customer service and safe working practices.

· Compatibility with company culture and core values.

Education:

  · Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Manufacturing, English, Education, Engineering, or a related field.

Work Environment

  · Several work locations with a focus on various processes including fabrication, machining, production lines, quality, safety, engineering, etc.

· Low level risks pertaining to work in a traditional manufacturing environment; PPE requirements include safety glasses, steel toe work shoes, and hearing protection.

· Work may require occasional standing, walking in a production facility and occasional reaching and crouching.

Skills Required

  • 3+ years of related experience in a fast-paced, rapid-growth manufacturing setting
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field such as English, Communications, Journalism, or Education
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to synthesize information from multiple sources and explain complex concepts simply
  • Excellent verbal and listening skills
  • Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and diverse personalities
  • Ability to work in a demanding manufacturing environment and follow safe working practices
