- This is on the business side, super polished, highly visible position
- Right hand to the PMO director
- Don't need to be really creative, just execute whatever she delegates to them.
- Understand project lifecycle
- Build relationships
- Leverage what they need to get things done.
For the priority of the skillset, an expert in Microsoft Project resource and dependency management for a complex multi-team, multi-year program is number one.
While the person doesn't have to be proficient in Power BI, SharePoint, Microsoft Automations, etc. what I would really hope is that they are familiar enough with those products to know what they can do.
We have other people who are experts in each of these other skill sets. What we need is a visionary who knows how they can be used and can have effective conversations to galvanize and oversee the work of these team members to meet our needs. Part of both of these skill sets is really understanding data structures that will be used to support the program. Sometimes people make changes in project plans, SharePoint, ADO, or other systems and never give a thought to that dashboards that feed on the information. Having a good understanding of these nuances and good judgement for when to pause and ask questions is what we need, versus a true expert in it.
