Technical Specialist - Embedded

Role overview:

Software engineer for development of complex systems involving firmware and embedded components.  Individual must have the ability to develop system requirements, system design and development, system test requirements and establish a system design approach based on those requirements aligned with the defined coding standards. The selected candidate must have a background in embedded software development, devices/system interaction and troubleshooting, and will be involved in all aspects of the product development process (concept, design, validation and production). The selected candidate will interact frequently with project management both locally and in the U.S. Will need to work with customers at global locations across different time-zones. Experience in modem firmware development and networking experience will be a plus.

What you will need to be succeefull:

  • Minimum 12+ years software development experience
  • Qualification: BE/B.Tech/MCA
  • Proficiency in C/C++, with exposure to assembly language, and strong awareness of safe‑coding practices.
  • Proven experience across the complete safety‑critical product lifecycle, including requirements analysis, architecture design, implementation, verification & validation, field deployment, and long‑term product support.
  • Strong hands-on experience with complex, real-time embedded systems, including deterministic, multithreaded applications with strict timing and reliability constraints.
  • Deep technical expertise in:
    • Embedded firmware development for safety‑critical applications
    • Real-Time Operating Systems (RTOS) with inter-task synchronization and timing analysis
    • Communication protocols used in industrial and elevator systems (UART, CAN, etc.)
    • Microprocessors and microcontrollers used in control and protection applications
  • Experience working on legacy firmware, with the ability to quickly understand existing architectures, safety mechanisms, and certification constraints, and contribute to maintenance and controlled enhancements.
  • Strong & diverse technical skills including an ability to use H/W scope probes, in-Circuit-Emulators, Simulators and Debuggers for trouble shooting
  • Hands-on experience in drive control applications, including firmware for electrical or motor drives, braking control, or motion control systems, is highly desirable.
  • Desirable Competencies:
    • Familiarity with requirements traceability, change control, and documentation practices expected in certified and regulated systems.
    • Working knowledge of Atlassian tools (Jira, Confluence, Bitbucket) for defect tracking, requirements management, and collaboration.
    • Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments, with the ability to balance Agile practices with the rigor required for safety‑critical development.
  • Other Competencies:
    • Strong Communication skills - oral and written
    • Ability to adapt quickly to an existing, complex environment
    • Go getter, result-driven, and works independently with minimal supervision
    • Passionate about building high-quality systems with software implementation best practices
