Why Choose Bottomline?

Are you ready to transform the way businesses pay and get paid? Bottomline is a global leader in business payments and cash management, with over 35 years of experience and moving more than $16 trillion in payments annually. We're looking for passionate individuals to join our team and help drive impactful results for our customers. If you're dedicated to delighting customers and promoting growth and innovation - we want you on our team!

The Role:

As a Technical Solutions Consultant, you’ll bring technical expertise to the sales process, helping customers understand how Bottomline’s banking solutions fit within their technology environment.

You’ll partner closely with Sales, Product Management, Engineering, Program Management, and Implementation teams to understand customer requirements, guide technical conversations, define solution architecture and integrations, and help ensure a smooth transition from sales to implementation.

This role supports opportunities across our Digital Banking, Cash & Fraud Risk Management, and Financial Messaging solutions. You’ll work with stakeholders ranging from CIOs and CTOs to developers and technical application teams, so we’re looking for someone who can go deep technically while also making complex concepts easy to understand.

You don’t necessarily need to come from a traditional Solutions Consulting background. If you have strong technical experience in areas like solution architecture, implementation, software development, or enterprise integrations and enjoy working with customers, this could be a great opportunity to bring that technical expertise into a more consultative, sales-focused role.

How You’ll Contribute

Technical Sales & Customer Engagement

  • Serve as a technical resource throughout the sales process, joining opportunities after qualification and helping shape the technical strategy.
  • Lead technical discovery conversations to understand customer requirements, architecture, integrations, and potential dependencies.
  • Engage confidently with both technical and executive stakeholders, including developers, architects, technical application leads, CIOs, and CTOs.
  • Translate complex technical concepts into clear, meaningful information for both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Deliver technical presentations, architecture reviews, solution demonstrations, and other technical discussions as needed.
  • Identify technical risks, dependencies, and implementation considerations early in the sales cycle.
  • Support opportunities with both prospective and existing customers.

Solution Architecture & Integration

  • Understand and communicate the architecture behind Bottomline’s Digital Banking, Cash & Fraud Risk Management, and Financial Messaging solutions.
  • Develop solution approaches that align with customer requirements and existing technology environments.
  • Guide conversations around integrations, infrastructure, configuration, interfaces, and solution architecture.
  • Create and maintain architecture and integration documentation to clearly capture the proposed solution and scope.
  • Partner with Engineering, Product, Program Management, and Implementation teams to validate solution feasibility and support an effective handoff into implementation.

Cross-Functional Partnership

  • Work closely with Sales as part of deal pursuit teams across multiple opportunities.
  • Partner with Product Management to deepen product knowledge and share customer insights.
  • Collaborate with Engineering and Development to understand solution architecture and technical capabilities.
  • Work closely with Program Management and Implementation to understand integration requirements and ensure continuity from sales through implementation.
What We’re Looking For
  • Experience in Sales Engineering, Solution Architecture, Technical Consulting, Implementation, Software Development, or another technical role where you’ve worked with customers or cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, enterprise applications, and systems integration.
  • Ability to understand and explain technical architecture, including infrastructure, databases, operating systems, interfaces, and integrations.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for different audiences.
  • Comfort engaging with developers, architects, IT leaders, and executive stakeholders.
  • Ability to quickly learn new technologies, products, and architectures.
  • A collaborative approach and comfort working across multiple opportunities and priorities.
Preferred Experience
  • Experience within banking, fintech, or financial services technology.
  • Experience with Digital Banking solutions is especially valuable.
  • Exposure to fraud, risk management, payments, or Financial Messaging solutions.
  • Experience working with banks and understanding how enterprise software solutions integrate within a bank’s technology ecosystem.
  • Previous client-facing implementation, solution architecture, or technical pre-sales experience.
  • Working knowledge of AI and its application within enterprise software and the ability to comfortably discuss AI-related concepts with customers.
What Success Looks Like

You’ll be successful in this role if you can:

  • Build credibility with both technical and business stakeholders.
  • Quickly become knowledgeable across multiple Bottomline banking solutions and their underlying architecture.
  • Take complex technical information and make it understandable to the audience in front of you.
  • Help customers understand how Bottomline solutions can successfully integrate within their environment.
  • Identify technical considerations early and help create a clear path from evaluation through implementation.
  • Balance multiple opportunities while knowing where and when your technical expertise can have the greatest impact.
The Ideal Candidate

You’re technically curious, a quick learner, and comfortable digging into the details of how software works and integrates. At the same time, you enjoy working with people and can explain technology without making it feel unnecessarily complicated.

You may already be a Sales Engineer or Technical Solutions Consultant, or you may come from solution architecture, implementation, or software development and be ready to take your technical experience into a more customer-facing role. Expected travel: up to approximately 25%.

We welcome talent at all career stages and are dedicated to understanding and supporting additional needs. We're proud to be an equal opportunity employer, committed to creating an inclusive and open environment for everyone.
