Balluff is growing, and we’re looking for motivated individuals to join our Sales Trainee Engagement Program (STEP) — a six-month, paid training program designed to prepare you for a full-time Sales Engineer role.

You’re not expected to “figure it out” on your own. We invest in your development from day one — with structured training, real-world experience, and a clear path to a field sales role.


What to Expect

This is a 6-month, paid rotational program where you’ll build the technical and sales foundation needed to succeed.

  • Starting salary: $67,000 during training
  • Salary increase upon promotion to Sales Engineer after successful completion
  • Company vehicle provided once you transition into your territory

During the program, you will:

  • Rotate through core functions including Technical Customer Support, Sales Support, and Operations
  • Learn how our products work by solving real customer applications
  • Participate in structured product and sales training
  • Gain experience with internal systems, customer communication, and demo tools
  • Travel with and shadow experienced Sales Engineers
  • Begin developing customer relationships through virtual sales activities

Qualifications

Basic Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, business, or a technical discipline
  • Up to 1–2 years of post-education experience
  • Technical aptitude with a willingness to learn Balluff products and systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and virtual meeting platforms
  • Ability and willingness to relocate twice:
  • First, to Florence, KY / Cincinnati, OH area for training
  • Then, to your assigned sales territory (Minneapolis) upon program completion

Skills Required

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, business, or a technical discipline
  • Up to 1-2 years of post-education experience
  • Technical aptitude and willingness to learn Balluff products and systems
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and virtual meeting platforms
  • Ability and willingness to relocate to Florence, KY / Cincinnati area for training and later to assigned sales territory (Minneapolis)
