Your role and responsibilities

In this role, you will have the opportunity to support the assigned Sales organization (division and market) and customers during the proposal process. You will serve as the technical focal point for Australia and Southeast Asia, providing expert support for ABB's industry-leading Distributed Control System (DCS) solutions while overseeing complex quotation preparation and warranty management processes.

You will be mainly accountable for:

  • Serving as the team's technical lead for ABB Automation Software and Hardware solutions, using your DCS and field experience to advise customers on system architecture, upgrades, licensing expansions, and modernization strategies
  • Leveraging ABB tools (CPQ, SoFa, and BOL) to size, configure, and quote automation hardware, software upgrades, and modernization solutions that meet customer requirements.
  • Provide first-line technical support for customers following the purchase of parts, software, or licenses. Apply your field experience to diagnose issues, deliver timely solutions, and escalate complex cases to engineering or factory support teams when required. Manage repair and warranty replacement requests in accordance with established processes and service standards.
  • Contribute to proactive DCS sales initiatives by preparing Spare Parts Analysis and Lifecycle Reports, supported by ABB's global tools, systems, and training programs.
  • Support the wider team in responding to spare parts enquiries and quotations across additional product portfolios as your product knowledge and training expand.
  • Manage the complete RFQ lifecycle, from customer enquiry and technical review through sourcing, pricing, approval, and quotation submission. Ensure all proposals comply with PA margin requirements, authorization levels, and company guidelines.
  • Secure customer purchase orders, coordinate a seamless handover to the delivery team, and maintain accurate records and case management activities within Salesforce.com.

Qualifications for this role

  • Engineering degree or equivalent proven technical experience — ideally with exposure to automation systems, control architecture, or industrial equipment
  • Strong written and verbal English language skills with excellent customer service instincts — confidence communicating technical concepts clearly to customers and internal stakeholders via email and phone
  • Self-motivated and keen to transition from site-based work to an office technical role, with a willingness to learn our commercial processes and systems
  • Good proficiency with Salesforce.com and MS-Office packages (Excel, Word, Office 365), plus the ability to rapidly respond to unforeseen developments and take ownership of solutions
  • Understanding of commercial terms and company policies, with strong time management and organizational skills
