Xylem is hiring a Technical Sales Representative to support our HYPACK brand by driving growth across the dredging, hydrographic, and geophysics markets.

Job Summary:

The HYPACK Technical Sales position combines technical expertise with a strong sales mindset, focusing on identifying new customers, building lasting relationships, and ensuring continued revenue growth.

The ideal candidate will bring in-depth knowledge of HYPACK solutions along with the right attitude for teamwork and cross-department collaboration. They will be proactive in pursuing opportunities, comfortable presenting forecasts and reports, and disciplined in submitting timely documentation. The role requires frequent travel across North America (20–50%) and occasional international travel to meet customers, attend events, and represent HYPACK.

Individual responsibility may include a defined geographic region or a specific set of products within the HYPACK portfolio, depending on business needs.

This is a hands-on role for someone who is motivated, resourceful, and eager to contribute to both individual and team success, while supporting the company’s broader strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities:

The HYPACK Technical Sales is responsible for executing strategic business plans and campaigns to achieve revenue growth in the dredging market sector, as well as the hydrographic and geophysics surveying sectors. The primary focus is on the North American region, specially in States associated with the Western Region as defined by HYPACK.

This position reports to the HYPACK Global Sales Manager and requires 20–50% annual travel throughout North America, with occasional international travel.

Technical Sales:

  • Sell HYPACK products (Hydrographic, Geophysics and Environmental Solutions as well as dredge solution including our new product HYLINK and the coming HYPACK X), custom software development, on-site support, training, maintenance plan subscriptions, and related equipment for complete installations.
  • Act as a technical expert for customer inquiries: research specifications and requirements to provide tailored solutions.
  • Prepare and conduct technical sales briefings, demonstrations, and presentations for customers and company stakeholders.
  • Develop proposals, technical specifications, pricing considerations, and contract requirements.
  • Deliver accurate sales forecasts and pipeline reports.
  • Collaborate with customers to identify new applications and improvements, building strong reference cases and success stories for events and tradeshows.
  • Work on Whitte papers, articles and presentations that explain the application of the software and highlight its features.
  • Drive direct sales efforts, including:
  • Engaging new prospects through face-to-face and remote interactions.
  • Expanding relationships with existing customers via cross-sell, upsell, and repeat sales.
  • Delivering tailored demonstrations, technical training, webinars, and seminars.
  • Creating mid- to long-term sales plans with strategies to protect, grow, and diversify accounts.

Technical Marketing:

  • Conduct market research to identify customer priorities, competitor offerings, and emerging industry trends.
  • Develop technical content and marketing collateral, including white papers, technical feature checklists, specifications, training videos, and blog posts.
  • Support marketing campaigns by providing technical input for promotional materials, advertisements, website content, and industry tradeshows.
  • Monitor online technical forums and customer feedback channels to evaluate reactions to product features and marketing messages.
  • Contribute to product lifecycle management by gathering requirements and recommending enhancements.
  • Reporting & Collaboration:
  • Provide timely reports on regional sales activities, forecasts, and business trips.
  • Participate actively in company initiatives, team projects, and cross-department collaboration.
  • Maintain accurate documentation to support sales processes and strategic planning.

The estimated salary range for this position is $85,000 to $110,000 plus bonus. Starting pay is dependent on multiple factors, such as skills, experience and work location, and is not typically at the top of the range.  At Xylem we offer a competitive compensation package with a generous benefit package, including Medical, Dental, Vision plans, 401(k) with company contribution, paid time off, paid parental leave and tuition reimbursement.
