Technical Revenue Recognition and GTM Accounting

The Stripe Product Accounting Team is responsible for supporting all products at Stripe, consulting on accounting implications and supporting teams' ability to make informed strategic decisions. We are responsible for the accurate and timely recording of all business-generated transactions on our balance sheet and income statement. We operate in a fast-paced environment and collaborate significantly with cross-functional and international teams.

Stripe is seeking a highly experienced accountant to join its world class Accounting team and help us scale for the future, in a fast-paced environment that is growing rapidly. In this role you will support our global revenue accounting across Payments and SaaS products, leveraging your technical expertise with US GAAP, specifically ASC 606, to quickly identify accounting implications and impacts to customers while advising and collaborating with team members cross-functionally to develop operational processes that help us scale.

• Analyze, enable, and approve new commercial constructs, changes to standard user contract language, and custom contract language
• Partner closely with our sales, go-to-market, product and legal partners to thoroughly understand new products, features, and contracts, and advise on accounting implications
• Research, prepare, and review technical accounting analyses, specifically under ASC 606
• Develop and maintain project management resources around our technical and go-to-market accounting tasks and initiatives
• Assess the effectiveness of internal controls, and design new processes and controls for emerging and growing business activities
• Develop and maintain up-to-date accounting policies and procedures

• 10+ years of relevant public accounting and/or industry experience in accounting
• B.A. or B.S degree in Accounting or Finance (CA/CPA strongly preferred)
• Fluency in U.S. GAAP and ability to research complex accounting issues with a focus in ASC 606
• Excellent communication and organizational skills, both written and verbal, with ability to convey financial concepts to both financial and non-financial audiences 
• Demonstrated experience partnering with cross-functional stakeholders
• Experience with internal controls (design, implementation and execution) 
• Demonstrated history of taking on various types of challenging projects and producing results, with excellent attention to detail 
• Solution-oriented mindset with enthusiasm for establishing best practices, and challenging existing processes to identify improvement opportunities

• CPA or similar qualification
• Payments or Tech industry experience
