The Consumer Engineering team at Optum is on a mission to disrupt the healthcare industry, transforming UHG into an industry-leading Consumer brand. We are looking for a Senior Tech Project Manager to own AI powered chatbot experiences leveraging LLMs. The Project Manager will handle several projects at once, taking responsibility for project scope, scheduling, risk management, and communication from start to finish. Candidates who excel in complex healthcare environments and can coordinate effectively among different stakeholders will find this position rewarding.
Moderate autonomy is required; you will independently oversee projects of varying complexity, escalating issues when necessary. You will also help improve processes and demonstrate willingness for greater responsibilities as you gain experience.
Primary Responsibilities:
  • Own the end to end delivery of Optum Assistant projects, from initiation through closeout
  • Partner with internal and customer stakeholders to confirm shared understanding of project scope, objectives, and success criteria
  • Proactively identify and raise misalignment or ambiguity in scope, expectations, or responsibilities
  • Develop and maintain project plans, including task sequencing, dependencies, effort estimates, and timelines
  • Manage project budgets and forecasts, including variance tracking and stakeholder communication
  • Apply standard project lifecycle methods and tools to drive predictable delivery outcomes
  • Lead project governance activities, including status reporting, risk and issue management, and change control
  • Facilitate cross functional project meetings with clinical, technical, and operational participants
  • Coordinate work across global project team members and shared services groups
  • Manage vendor and service provider contributions when applicable
  • Comply with the terms and conditions of the employment contract, company policies and procedures, and any and all directives (such as, but not limited to, transfer and/or re-assignment to different work locations, change in teams and/or work shifts, policies in regards to flexibility of work benefits and/or work environment, alternative work arrangements, and other decisions that may arise due to the changing business environment). The Company may adopt, vary or rescind these policies and directives in its absolute discretion and without any limitation (implied or otherwise) on its ability to do so

Required Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of project management experience, or at least five years working on healthcare software implementations
  • Knows Agile-Scrum methodology and can manage 2-3 scrum teams as a scrum master
  • Technically aware to understand risk, complexity and ability to abstract and share upwards where required
  • Skilled at facilitating structured meetings and guiding decisions among diverse groups of stakeholders
  • Involvement in or support of process improvement efforts
  • Proficient in using project management tools Rally, MS Office
  • Proven track record of managing projects with different scopes, involving multiple stakeholders and workstreams
  • Willingness to overlap with US teams for 5-6 hours

Preferred Qualifications:
  • PMP or Similar certifications
  • 1+ years in managing AI projects
  • Healthcare experience
