The Role

Ankura is a team of excellence founded on innovation and growth.

Role Overview

The Technical Project Manager (TPM) will lead and deliver complex, client-facing technology consulting engagements. This role serves as the primary delivery owner for engagements, responsible for planning, execution, governance, and successful outcomes across technical, financial, and stakeholder dimensions. The TPM works closely with consulting leadership, subject matter experts, engineers, and client stakeholders to ensure engagements are delivered on time, within scope, and within budget, while maintaining high standards of quality and client satisfaction. This role requires a strong combination of technical fluency, project management discipline, and consulting acumen. This is a remote based position.

Responsibilities

Client Engagement Leadership

  • Lead end-to-end delivery of technology consulting engagements, serving as the primary point of accountability for execution

  • Partner with engagement sponsors and consulting leadership to translate client objectives into actionable delivery plans

  • Facilitate project governance, status reporting, and executive-level communication with client stakeholders

  • Proactively manage client expectations, risks, and change throughout the engagement lifecycle

Project Planning & Delivery

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive project plans, schedules, budgets, and resource forecasts

  • Manage scope, dependencies, risks, issues, and change control across multiple concurrent engagements

  • Drive execution across cross-functional teams including engineers, architects, analysts, and third-party vendors

  • Ensure deliverables meet defined quality standards and align to agreed engagement objectives

Technical & Delivery Oversight

  • Maintain sufficient technical depth to understand solution architecture, implementation approaches, and delivery risks

  • Coordinate technical workstreams and dependencies across infrastructure, applications, data, security, and cloud domains

  • Identify delivery risks early and work with technical leads to develop mitigation strategies

  • Support solution design and implementation discussions without acting as the hands-on engineer

Financial & Commercial Management

  • Track engagement budgets, burn rates, and forecasts; manage variances and escalations as needed

  • Support engagement setup, including scope definition, work planning, and resource alignment

  • Ensure time and expense tracking accuracy in accordance with firm and client requirements

Consulting & Team Leadership

  • Provide day-to-day leadership and direction to engagement team members

  • Foster a collaborative, accountable, and high-performing team environment

  • Coach and mentor team members on delivery excellence and consulting best practices

  • Contribute to continuous improvement of project management and engagement delivery processes

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in project or program management, with a significant portion in client-facing consulting or professional services

  • Demonstrated experience leading complex, technology-driven engagements

  • Strong understanding of enterprise technology environments (e.g., infrastructure, cloud, applications, security, data platforms)

  • Proven ability to manage multiple concurrent projects in fast-paced environments

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, including executive-level client communication

  • Willingness to travel as required for client engagements

  • Experience working with cross-functional and geographically distributed teams

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in management consulting, technology advisory, or systems integration environments

  • Project management certification (PMP, PgMP, PRINCE2, SAFe, or equivalent)

  • Experience with Agile, hybrid, and waterfall delivery methodologies

  • Familiarity with enterprise platforms and tools (e.g., cloud platforms, ERP, collaboration tools, PMO tooling)

  • Experience supporting M&A, large-scale transformations, or regulated environments
