Position Summary 

If you are a Technical Program Manager who has the fundamental capabilities with respect to planning, organizing, communicating and problem solving then we would like to talk to you. We are looking for someone who also brings unique skills in leadership, analysis, data intelligence, critical thinking, conflict management, and risk management. 

 

The focus of the assigned projects is on innovating, developing, and delivering new products in alignment with the F5 Distributed Cloud platform. 

 

As a Technical Program Manager, you are a key member of the Project Management Organization (PMO) supporting the Engineering/Operations project teams and will represent the voice of both the developers and stakeholders to execute project planning, delivery, and data reporting. The Technical Program Manager works closely with Product Management, developers, architects, and operations to define and prioritize features and stories, to ensure alignment with customer and program needs, and improve value of development. They should be able to handle multiple simultaneous projects that are complex or high-risk and be able to develop recovery strategies for projects that stray from their plan. They are able to manage the collection of product requirements in a holistic manner and aims to meet project goals with both quality and integrity.

Primary Responsibilities 

  • Design, build, and maintain the project plan including scope, schedule, resources, dependencies, and budget 
  • Lead the gathering of product requirements and project scope in a holistic manner across multiple teams or business functions 
  • Negotiate challenging priorities and navigate complex organizational dynamics to establish delivery plans and schedules that are in alignment with the objectives set forth by the organization and the company 
  • Proactively identify and resolve strategic issues that may impair the team’s ability to meet delivery schedules 
  • Monitor progress to plan and design a recovery strategy if project deviates from delivery schedules 
  • Provide data analytics to support operational, process improvement, and cost reporting 
  • Design and deliver Executive-level presentations to support the governance process for Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) 
  • Design and run effective program-level meetings to communicate status and coordinate efforts 
  • Conduct retrospectives on completed projects to support process, policy and tool-set improvements 
  • Collaborate with peers, managers and team members across the organization to solve problems, develop continuous improvement plans, and coordinate work 

 

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities 

  • Ability to communicate effectively across written, verbal and presentation formats to a variety of audiences 
  • Able to apply critical thinking techniques to analyze problems and develop solutions 
  • Willing to learn how to build resource forecasts or manage risk 
  • Willing to learn to use either Waterfall or Agile methods to handle projects which may comprise both software and hardware 
  • Assist with the gathering of product requirements and project scope across a multi-function team 
  • Willing to learn the working knowledge of technology companies or domains and the interplay between Marketing, Product Development, Manufacturing, Customer Support, Sales and Professional Services 
  • Basic knowledge with tools for project and portfolio management such as MS Project/MS Project Server 
  • Desired experience with Atlassian suite (Jira, Confluence) 
  • Experience with at least one of the following programming languages: (Python, Java, C++, C) 
  • Technology product development experience a plus 
  • Excellent skill at using MS Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook and Word 

 

Qualifications 

  • Successfully completed a Summer 2026 internship with F5. 
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in Computer Science, or a related technical field graduating between December 2026 and September 2027. 
  • Must be able to start no later than September 30th, 2027. 
  • Must be able to work onsite in accordance with F5s policies; fully remote work options are not available.   
  • Completed a Data Structures course in a modern, object-oriented programming language or possess equivalent knowledge

The annual base pay for this position is listed below. 

 

San Jose, CA: $111,200

 

These are fixed, non-negotiable, base salaries for the stated locations.

The annual base pay for this position is: $89,000.00 - $133,400.00

F5 maintains broad salary ranges for its roles in order to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, geographic locations, and market conditions, as well as to reflect F5’s differing products, industries, and lines of business. The pay range referenced is as of the time of the job posting and is subject to change.
