Job Purpose
The IT Systems & Operations Lead is a key leadership role within YSI’s IT & InfoSec function, responsible for managing and optimising core operational tools, processes, and platforms across the business. The role places a heavy emphasis on Atlassian stack ownership (Jira Software, Jira Service Management, Confluence), but also expands into Google Workspace, MDM, automation tooling, and end-user lifecycle management.
You will act as the technical point of contact for IT operations and admin support, leading internal automation efforts, building team standards, overseeing platform configurations, and enabling secure, efficient operations. This is a hands-on leadership role with both strategic oversight and technical execution responsibility.
Areas of Responsibility
Tooling & Atlassian Stack Management
- Own the configuration, optimisation, and day-to-day administration of Jira Software, Jira Service Management, and Confluence
- Design and implement scalable workflows, automation rules, project templates, dashboards, custom fields, and permission schemes
- Drive tool governance and improve consistency, efficiency, and transparency across teams
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (Product, Dev, HR, Legal, etc.) to deliver tailored solutions for tracking, SLAs, and reporting
- Stay up to date with new Atlassian features, champion roadmap discussions internally, and assess relevant marketplace add-ons
IT Systems & Platform Oversight
- Lead operations for key platforms including Google Workspace, Slack, OneLogin, and device/MDM platforms (e.g., NinjaOne, JumpCloud, Jamf)
- Oversee platform access, license management, cost tracking, and integration performance
- Build and maintain internal automations (scripts, APIs, or low-code tools) to streamline processes and improve end-user experience
Leadership & Collaboration
- Lead and mentor a small team of IT Admins and act as a senior escalation point
- Support onboarding and tooling standardisation efforts for internal teams
- Collaborate with the Support Platform Engineer to align workflows across Zendesk and related customer support tools
- Work closely with Information Security to ensure tooling compliance, audit readiness, and secure configurations
Requirements
- 4+ years in IT Operations, Workplace Engineering, or Tooling/Platform Administration roles
- Proven experience administering and owning the Atlassian Suite (Jira Software, JSM, Confluence)
- Experience with modern workplace tooling (Google Workspace, Slack, Zoom, MDM, etc.)
- Demonstrated ability to configure automations, manage licenses, and drive adoption of internal tools
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and cross-functional communication skills
- Comfortable balancing hands-on configuration with strategic oversight and team enablement
- Strong documentation, process-building, and troubleshooting skills
