We have an ambitious human resources and employee relations strategy designed to support our leaders and our people be the best they can be. To help us execute our strategy, we have an opportunity for an employee relations specialist to join our team.
We’re looking for a highly autonomous subject matter expert who has a high attention to detail and can build and maintain the important relationships we have created with our people and our leaders and in the industries we operate in.
What you’ll be doing:
- Provide expert advice and guidance on complex and high-risk employee and industrial relations matters.
- Represent Hastings Deering in the Fair Work Commission and in other Tribunals as required
- Manage complex performance and conduct matters and support the resolution of workplace matters in line with legislation, policies and procedures and our values.
- Ensure consistent and compliant application of industrial instruments, policies, and employment laws.
- Facilitating positive and transparent communication forums with our employees, Unions and other industry and regulatory bodies as required.
- Assist in the negotiation of Enterprise Agreements.
- Drive increased capability and education of employee relations matters to empower our leaders to manage issues with confidence.
- Partner with our HR Business Partners, managers, and senior leaders
- Deliver practical, solutions-focused advice that balances compliance, risk, and business objectives
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of ER/IR frameworks, policies, and practices
- Support a culture of fairness, inclusion, and high performance across the organisation
What you’ll bring
- Relevant qualifications in either business, law, psychology, communications/politics and/or human resources management.
- 5+ years’ experience in employee and industrial relations
- Proven experience managing complex ER/IR cases and investigations in large or complex organisations
- Proven experience in advocacy before the Fair Work Commission or other tribunals.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision
- Experience providing advice on award interpretation, compliance, and risk mitigation
- Strong capability in coaching leaders and HR professionals on employee relations practices
