We seek an experienced Technical Marketing Engineer (TME) specialising on Data Center Networking architectures, including AI networking solutions, Secure Data Centers and Nexus portfolio, to join our dynamic team. Here, you will have the opportunity to work on developing the Nexus 9000 line of data center switches and their associated software that features application awareness, to make the network infrastructure flexible and agile for dynamic response to application needs, virtual machine workload mobility and connectivity requirements for the AI era.
You will work with a diverse group of problem solvers and creative thinkers focusing on the Nexus 9000, NX-OS, Cisco ACI, Nexus Hyperfabric, Nexus Dashboard, Nexus Smart Switches and Network fabric for Artificial Intelligence (AI) applications.
This role requires a high level of initiative, energy and rapid thinking. Communication and presentation skills are a must in this role, including the ability to explain technical concepts while adapting the depth of the conversation to the audience.
Your Impact
As a Technical Marketing Engineer, you will bridge the gap between our engineering, sales, and marketing teams. You will play a pivotal role in driving product enablement and adoption by demonstrating technical expertise, creating impactful marketing collateral, and engaging with customers and partners to showcase the value of our Nexus portfolio across Unified Networking, Secure Networking, and AI Networking architectures, including automation, security, and operational transformation use cases. This role requires a high degree technical proficiency, marketing strategy, and customer interaction.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Enablement, Marketing and Content Creation:
- Deliver technical enablement sessions to broad audiences of customers, partners or internal Cisco employees, in person and remotely, around Cisco’s DC Networking portfolio.
- Articulate Cisco’s DC Networking messaging and strategy, with a focus on the solutions that the portfolio enables.
- Develop technical marketing collateral, including white papers, solution briefs, case studies, and technical presentations.
- Develop and validate customer-facing demos, lab experiences, and video content using beta and EFT code, in close collaboration with engineering and product teams.
- Write and present thought leadership content, such as blog posts, webinars, and conference presentations.
- Collaborate with the product and marketing teams to define messaging and positioning for DC networking solutions.
Solution definition and influence:
- Partner with engineering, product management and technical marketing to refine product requirements and solutions, ensuring cross-portfolio consistency
- Develop persona-based solution narratives tailored to relevant buying centers, including NetOps, SecOps, platform engineering, and AI infrastructure teams.
- Actively participate in roadmap discussions, feature reviews, and internal meetings to shape future product direction.
- Collaborate with product management and technical marketing to track customer and partner feedback and product enhancements, from initial testing through to final external enablement.
Event Participation:
- Represent Cisco’s DC Networking business unit at industry events, trade shows, and conferences as a technical evangelist.
- Represent Cisco's DCN business unit in analyst engagements, including Tech Field Days and industry analyst briefings, to validate market leadership and technical strategy.
- Engage with key stakeholders to build relationships and promote the company’s solutions.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Network Engineering, Computer Engineering or related field with 10+ years of experience in Technical Marketing, Network Engineering, Technical Pre-Sales or a related technical role.
- Strong understanding of networking concepts, protocols, and hardware (e.g., switches, NICs, DPUs).
- Strong understanding of industry-standard protocols such as BGP, OSPF, ISIS, VXLAN, RDMA, etc.
- Experience in working with various software defined network controllers and other automation technologies.
- Expertise in Cisco’s DC networking technologies, including Cisco ACI, VXLAN EVPN, NX-OS, Nexus Hyperfabric.
- Familiarity with network security concepts, segmentation, policy enforcement, and workload protection as applied to data center and hybrid environments.
- Knowledge of scripting languages, automation tools, and Infrastructure as Code practices
- Good verbal and writing skills. Strong public speaking and presentation delivery skills.
- Strong collaboration skills, teamwork, conflict resolution and objection handling.
Preferred Qualifications
- Knowledge of open-source AI and networking tools and ecosystems.
- Experience with AI-assisted coding and use of generative AI to produce high-quality content
- Proven track record of developing technical marketing content for a technical audience
