Job Summary
The Technical Manager is a developing technical leadership role responsible for building and delivering technical talent within research, technology, or product development environments. This position manages resources to maximize team productivity, drives execution of near-term business strategies, and ensures delivery of high-quality technical outcomes. The role also requires strong stakeholder collaboration across functions and geographies, while leading teams through complex problem-solving and continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Talent Development
- Develop and manage technically capable teams across multiple sites or business units
- Coach, mentor, and guide employees on technical problem-solving, career development, and performance improvement
- Assess team performance, provide feedback, and establish clear performance standards
- Build organizational capability by aligning talent with business and technical needs
Project & Program Execution
- Lead execution of product development and technical projects aligned with business priorities
- Manage resource allocation, staffing, and project prioritization to meet delivery timelines
- Oversee Annual Operating Plan (AOP) execution including cost, schedule, and resource planning
- Ensure project outcomes meet quality, cost, and timeline expectations
Technical Problem Solving & Decision Making
- Provide leadership in resolving complex technical issues with high ambiguity and business impact
- Guide teams in identifying root causes and implementing robust, data-driven solutions
- Make critical decisions related to resource deployment, project priorities, and technical direction
Process Improvement & Operational Excellence
- Develop, implement, and improve engineering and business processes across functions
- Optimize workflows related to resource management, stakeholder engagement, and knowledge sharing
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance productivity and efficiency
Stakeholder & Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Build and maintain strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders

Qualifications

- Experience working in global or cross-functional environments preferred
Internal Considerations
- Role aligned to B Platform Design leadership within global VPI programs
- Experience in design, simulation, and validation of engine systems required
- Strong expertise in VPI processes (Class 1 & 2) and VPCRs
- Understanding of On-Highway and Off-Highway engine applications
- Experience managing global teams and driving techno-managerial initiatives
Skills Required
