Job Description SummaryJob Description Summary
As a Technical Leader – Mechanical Component, you will lead the technical execution of design engineering work for Hot Gas Path rotating components. The role owns delivery across New Product Introduction (NPI), Pivot to Value (P2V), Multi-Year Agreement (MYA), Fleet, Repair support, Root Cause Analysis (RCA), and Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA), ensuring solutions meet expectations for safety, quality, reliability, manufacturability, cost, and schedule. This role also requires close integration of Aeromechanics considerations into component design and structural integrity assessment. You will provide technical leadership to a team in a matrixed environment and work closely with cross-functional organizations to deliver robust outcomes for both internal and end customers.
What You’ll Do
You will serve as the technical focal for assigned component programs and guide a team of mechanical design engineers through planning, execution, technical reviews, and closure of deliverables. The role spans the broader engineering lifecycle, including design release, product definition, manufacturing support, assembly, testing, repair-related work, and implementation support. Delivering on this scope requires close collaboration with interfacing teams across Aero, Thermal, Reliability, Manufacturing, Repair, Services, Design Liaison Engineering (DLE), and Systems. In this role, you will lead or contribute to technical reviews with Controlled Title Holders (CTHs) and proactively inform internal customers on decisions.

Job DescriptionRoles and Responsibilities
Technical Leadership & Program Ownership:

Lead assigned programs end-to-end, owning execution, coordination, and delivery across the engineering lifecycle of the component. Maintain rigor and responsiveness while managing safety, quality, cost, and technical risk.

  • Own end-to-end execution and delivery of assigned Hot Gas Path Rotating Components work, aligned to business and engineering priorities.
  • Coordinate execution through the applicable stages of the product lifecycle, ensuring technical readiness, alignment, and timely closure at each phase.
  • Prepare for and lead or support technical reviews with Controlled Title Holders (CTHs), ensuring review readiness and timely closure of actions.

Mechanical Design, Reliability, and Engineering Judgment:

Apply strong mechanical engineering fundamentals within an integrated decision framework to evaluate design options and trade-offs across structural integrity, life, reliability, interfaces, safety, manufacturability, and other relevant design considerations. Turn technical inputs and risks into clear, evidence-based recommendations that enable robust component decisions.

  • Interpret design and analysis results to guide design iterations and support timely technical decisions.
  • Apply working knowledge of mechanical design, lifing, reliability, and interface considerations to component evaluations.
  • Balance safety, quality, cost, manufacturability, assembly, and schedule while maintaining technical integrity.
  • Read across adjacent components and field learnings to identify themes, risks, and drive preventive corrective actions.

Team Guidance and Capability Building:

Provide day-to-day technical direction to a team, setting clear priorities and quality expectations for deliverables. Build team capability through coaching, feedback, and reinforcement of sound engineering practices.

  • Guide engineers on daily execution needs, technical priorities, and expected deliverables.
  • Review work products to ensure completeness, quality, and alignment with engineering requirements.
  • Coach team members to strengthen technical judgment, ownership, and problem-solving capability.
  • Promote accountability and collaboration within the team through consistent feedback and open communication.

Cross-Functional Collaboration and One-Team Execution:

Build effective working relationships across functions to enable aligned decisions and integrated execution. Engage stakeholders early and communicate technical concerns clearly to manage downstream impacts.

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional and interfacing teams to ensure deliverables are aligned, reviewed, and completed effectively.
  • Participate in formal and informal technical reviews and communicate technical issues, recommendations, progress, and risks with clarity.
  • Keep internal customers and partner teams informed on decisions that affect their scope, priorities, or deliverables.
  • Support design-for-manufacturing and design-for-assembly needs through proactive engagement with interfacing functions.

Problem Solving, Continuous Improvement and Future-Ready Mindset:

Approach problems with structure and discipline, driving practical improvements that make engineering work simpler, faster, and more effective. Support the adoption of modern tools and methods to strengthen execution over time.

  • Use sound judgment to solve moderately complex engineering problems and manage risks appropriately.
  • Drive simplification, standardization, and continuous improvement in execution by applying Lean principles and encouraging new approaches to strengthen problem-solving.
  • Support practical adoption of artificial intelligence (AI), automation, and digital engineering tools where beneficial.

Required Qualifications:
  • Master's degree required in Mechanical Engineering, Design, Structural, Applied Mechanics, or related Engineering / Science discipline from an accredited institution.
  • Minimum 8+ years of engineering experience in gas turbine engineering, turbomachinery mechanical design, or related component design field.
  • Demonstrated ability to own and lead technical programs or projects end-to-end, with minimal oversight.
  • Experience working in cross-functional engineering environments with multiple stakeholders and dependencies.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with ability to explain technical issues clearly and build alignment.

Desired Characteristics:
  • Prior experience in Heavy Duty Gas Turbine Rotating Hot Gas Path components, preferably Blades and Near Flow Path Seals (NFPS), is strongly desired.
  • Working experience or relevant exposure in Aeromechanics for rotating turbine components, especially as applicable to blade design, assessment, testing, or issue resolution, is preferred.
  • GE Vernova product line experience is preferred.
  • Familiarity with Lean principles, along with ANSYS, NX, and Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) tools, is important.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing, assembly, service, repair, field issue resolution, and validation considerations is preferred.
