Position Details: 

Job Title: Mainframe Technical Lead – Application Support 

Location: Bengaluru 

Employment Type: Full-time 

Role Overview 

We are looking for an experienced Mainframe Application Support specialist with 10–14 years of handson expertise in COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS & VSAM to support Billing Applications. The ideal candidate should be open to learning new technologies and AI tools. 

Responsibilities:

  • Lead billing production support by monitoring task performance, coaching team members, and providing feedback to developers and onshore peers. 

  • Quality Control: Assist in identifying and resolving defects; ensure adherence to quality standards. 

  • Problem Solving: Act as the first point of escalation for the offshore team and primary contact for business users; assist with implementing solutions. 

  • Training and Development: Leverage KT documentation to train new staff, cross-train existing team members, and support skill development. 
  • Process Improvement: Suggest and implement improvements that increase efficiency and system stability. 

  • Investigate root causes for recurring functional issues and propose preventive actions. 
  • Analyze business process flows and identify gaps or improvement areas in mainframe applications. 

  • Maintain detailed incident logs, Root Cause Analysis (RCA) documents, and functional SOPs. 
  • Provide timely updates to users and stakeholders on incident status and resolution. 
  • Prepare and share regular reports on incident trends, SLA compliance, and functional health. 
  • Document functional issues, resolutions, and workarounds in the knowledge base. 
  • Participate in modernization initiatives and explore integration with new technologies and AI tools. 
Qualifications

 

Skills & Experience: 

  • 10–14 years of experience in mainframe application support (COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, VSAM). 
  • Advanced proficiency in COBOL, JCL, DB2, CICS, and VSAM. 
  • Expert skills in debugging and troubleshooting tools such as FileAid, Xpeditor, and Abend-Aid. 
  • Experience with batch scheduling tools and production control. 
  • Proficiency in software configuration/change management tools (e.g., ServiceNow). 
  • Expert at writing complex SQL queries and using database tools like SPUFI. 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities. 
  • Experience in the insurance domain is a plus.


Nice to Have: 

  • Java, WebSphere, Azure, Automation, and AI skills.
