The Impact You'll Be Contributing to Moloco:

As a Technical Lead within our Cloud Infrastructure team, the successful candidate will play a central role in architecting the future of our high-volume, low-latency services, directly impacting their performance, sustained growth, and most critically, their efficiency at scale. They will be instrumental in defining and championing the multi-cloud architecture necessary to support our ambitious growth objectives and foster a culture of cost-conscious engineering.

The Opportunity:
This is a critical position within the Moloco Ads Infrastructure team, responsible for the platforms and infrastructure that form the bedrock of the Moloco Ads business. You will be a key technical leader, working closely with business leaders, finance partners, and engineering teams across the organization to strategically evolve our multi-cloud ecosystem.
Specifically, you will:
- Technically define, champion, and drive the Moloco Ads multi-cloud architectural roadmap, balancing cost efficiency with flexibility, reliability, and R&D velocity.
- Lead strategic engineering initiatives from architecture and design through development and operationalization, with a focus on cloud cost optimization and platform portability.
- Own the overall cost efficiency models and approaches, including developing predictive spending models, implementing centralized tools to distribute cost and operational ownership to service teams, and advocating for outsized cost savings through architectural innovation.
- Design and advocate for future-state multi-cloud approach, including strategies for managing large datasets, portable platforms, and cloud-agnostic deployment solutions.
- Drive the evaluation and adoption of new platforms (proprietary to OSS), bringing a strong conviction on the sequence and approach for workload migration to achieve greater portability and cost efficiency.
- Establish multi-cloud telemetry and robust cost analysis frameworks to ensure transparency and empower service owners.
- Influence and foster a healthy culture of cost efficiency and technical excellence across engineering teams.
Here is what you need to succeed:
- 10+ years of hands-on industry experience in software development, with significant focus on large-scale distributed systems and infrastructure.
- Proven expertise in multi-cloud environments (specifically GCP and AWS), including evaluating platforms, modeling complex cost analysis, and driving architectural decisions across cloud providers.
- Deep understanding of Cloud-Specific and Open Source Software (OSS) platforms for large-scale data and compute.
- Demonstrated ability to serve as the technical lead for large-scale, multi-quarter engineering efforts influencing strategic direction across the organization.
- Extensive experience with cost management, estimation, and reporting for cloud infrastructure, ideally coupled with experience building centralized tooling and processes to support FinOps initiatives.
- Strong track record of advocating for and driving architectural changes that deliver significant efficiency gains and cost savings, even in the face of existing practices or pushback.
- Experience building the tools and processes that help foster a culture of cost efficiency within large engineering organizations.
- A strong conviction and proven experience in driving outsized cost savings through alternate system architectures (e.g., migrating workloads to more cost-effective technologies).
