The Opportunity

As a Technical Lead – Cloud Services (Azure), you will oversee the design, implementation, and management of our cloud infrastructure on the Microsoft Azure platform. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to assess requirements, develop cloud solutions, and ensure the security, scalability, and reliability of our cloud-based systems. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in Azure architecture and a deep understanding of cloud computing technologies. You will participate in architecture reviews of Azure environments, bring engineering best practices, lead changes, and inspire teams toward delivery excellence at Sysco.

Responsibilities:  

Leading the Azure cloud platform management work, providing mentorship and guidance to team members

Designing, implementing, and managing highly available and scalable cloud infrastructure on the Azure platform

Collaborating with stakeholders and application teams to understand business requirements, translating them into cloud architecture designs, and providing operational support to application teams

Developing and maintaining cloud migration strategies, including assessing existing systems, identifying gaps, and recommending remediation plans

Ensuring the security, availability, and performance of Azure resources through proper design and configuration

Implementing and optimizing cloud-based solutions, including virtual networks, storage, compute resources, and identity management

Defining and enforcing cloud governance policies, including resource tagging, access controls, and cost management

Monitoring, troubleshooting, and resolving issues related to Azure infrastructure, ensuring high availability and performance

Staying up-to-date with the latest trends and advancements in Azure and cloud computing technologies and providing recommendations for continuous improvement

Collaborating with cross-functional teams, including developers, system administrators, and security specialists, to ensure seamless integration of cloud solutions

Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior team members

Working with DevOps and IaC tools such as GitHub, Jenkins, Docker, Terraform, Azure Resource Manager (ARM) and Kubernetes

Ensuring the security and compliance of all Sysco’s infrastructure, data, applications, and configurations

Cloud adoption/migration strategies implementation for the Organization

Designing/Developing Scripts for Automation where appropriate

Requirements:  

Extensive knowledge of Azure infrastructure, services, and offerings, including Azure Virtual Machines, Azure Storage, Azure App Services, Azure Functions, Azure Networking, and Azure Active Director

Should have a successful track record in architecting, designing, implementing, and managing systems and infrastructure in a cloud computing environment, including multi-cloud hybrid architectures

A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or an equivalent field; An MSc or relevant postgraduate qualifications will be an additional advantage

10+ years of industry experience and 7+ years of working experience with Azure cloud platform

Proven experience as an Azure Cloud Professional, with a strong focus on designing and implementing Azure-based solutions

Certified in Microsoft Azure Administrator or Architect Expert level

A solid understanding of different cloud environments and applications, including hybrid scenarios, optimizing cost/capacity ratios, scaling, implementing, and validating database and DR scenarios, security, and compliance

Knowledge of cloud security controls including conditional access policies, tenant isolation, encryption at rest, encryption in transit, key management, federated authentication vulnerability assessments, application firewalls, SIEM, etc.

Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and communicate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders

Strong oral, written, and presentation abilities, able to convey risk to all levels of the business, from executives to operations and development teams
