The Opportunity 

 

We are currently on the lookout for Software Engineer/ Senior Software Engineer/ Associate Technical Lead/ Technical Lead - AS400 candidates to join our team.  

 

Responsibilities: 

  • Designing and developing enterprise-grade, mission-critical products and solutions for one of the world’s largest corporations 

  • Producing high quality, high stability code and designs by following software engineering best practices 

  • Working collaboratively in a cross-functional team in an Agile delivery environment 

  • Being a part of the technology leadership in this domain 

  • Being involved in projects throughout their full software lifecycle: from development, QA, and deployment to post-production support 

  • Providing development support for production systems and participating in on-call rotation 

  • Writing technical user stories and ensuring that non-functional requirements are met to ensure performance, scaling, resilience and maintainability of software/solutions 

  • Providing recommendations for continuous improvement 

 

Requirements: 

  • A Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or equivalent 

  • 2+ years (SE level), 4+ years (SSE Level), 6+ years (ATL level), 7+ years (TL level) of experience in AS400/RPG (RPG III, RPG 4, RPG ILE/CLLE/RLU/DDS/DB2/SQL) 

  • Strong knowledge in AS400/IBM i OS commands and APIs 

  • The ability to understand and optimize RPG/CL code 

  • Strong knowledge in SQL query optimization and stored procedures 

  • Experience in B2B and EDI will be an added advantage 

  • Experience with ALDON will be an added advantage 

  • A strong programming and software engineering background 

  • Knowledge in fundamental web-based technologies, protocols, techniques and popular open-source libraries: HTTP, RESTful web services, HTML5, JavaScript, Node.js, React.js, Java etc. 

  • Working proficiency with a RDBMS technology like SQL 

  • Hands-on experience designing, developing, testing and troubleshooting production systems 

  • Exposure as a technology leader will be an added advantage 

  • The ability to adhere to engineering standards, best practices; must be process-oriented 

  • Strong communication skills – reading & comprehending documents/specifications, producing clear and thorough documentation, and ability to discuss and explain technical issues during meetings 

  • Experience developing in an agile environment as part of a scrum team 

  • A thirst for learning and regularly updating knowledge
