Technical Intern | 2027 Summer Internship Program 

Location: Primarily Remote | Required Summer Tech Summit in Bridgeport, WV. The internship is primarily remote and includes one required onsite experience at Trilogy's Bridgeport, West Virginia location. Trilogy will provide or reimburse approved travel and lodging expenses associated with the Summer Tech Summit. 

Duration: 12 weeks (June 1, 2027— August 17, 2027) 

About the Program 

Trilogy's 2027 Technical Internship Program is a 12-week, hands-on experience designed for students who want to apply their technical skills to meaningful, real-world challenges while learning alongside experienced technology professionals. 

Interns will be matched with a technical focus area based on their skills, interests, academic experience, and Trilogy's current technology priorities. Potential areas may include software engineering, artificial intelligence and machine learning, cloud and DevOps, cybersecurity, automation, data, and emerging technology research. 

Throughout the program, interns will work with Trilogy's technical teams, receive mentorship and feedback, participate in Agile development practices, and complete a project or body of work culminating in an end-of-program Virtual Capstone presentation. 

Technical Focus Areas 

Interns may be aligned to one of the following areas based on experience, interests, and project availability: 

  • Software Engineering: Application development, APIs, testing, modernization, and other software engineering initiatives. 

  • Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning: AI/ML research, prototypes, automation, emerging technologies, and practical applications of artificial intelligence. 

  • Cloud & DevOps: Cloud technologies, infrastructure, CI/CD, containers, automation, platform engineering, and related technologies. 

  • Cybersecurity: Security engineering, analysis, security operations, compliance, vulnerability management, and related cybersecurity initiatives. 

  • Data & Analytics: Data engineering, visualization, analytics, reporting, and development of data-driven solutions. 

  • Research & Innovation: Exploration of emerging technologies, technical research, proofs of concept, prototypes, and innovative solutions to complex technical challenges. 

Applicants will have an opportunity to identify their first and second preferred focus areas during the application process. Final assignments will be based on candidate interests and qualifications, mentor availability, and Trilogy's technical priorities. 

Program Structure 

Week 1 | Connect & Launch

The program begins virtually with orientation, introductions to Trilogy leaders, mentors, and fellow interns, and an overview of Trilogy's mission, values, and technology environment. Interns will be introduced to their assigned technical focus areas, mentors, and summer projects and begin establishing goals and expectations for the program. 

Week 2 | Trilogy Summer Tech Summit
Interns will come together in Bridgeport, WV, for our Summer Tech Summit designed to build connections and launch the summer experience. The Summit will include team-building activities, technical collaboration, leadership engagement, mentoring sessions, professional development, and dedicated time with project teams. Following the Summit, interns will transition to the primarily remote portion of the program. 

Weeks 3-10 | Build & Grow

Interns will work primarily remotely within their assigned technical focus area. This phase will include hands-on project work, Agile team participation, technical mentorship, professional development, regular feedback, and opportunities to collaborate across Trilogy. 

Week 11 | Finish & Prepare

Interns will finalize project deliverables, document outcomes, incorporate feedback, and prepare to share their work. Mentors and project teams will support interns in refining their final deliverables and capstone presentations. 

Final Week | Showcase & Celebrate

The program will conclude with Trilogy's virtual Intern Capstone Showcase. Interns will present their projects, accomplishments, lessons learned, and the impact of their work to Trilogy leaders, mentors, teammates, and fellow interns. The final week will also include feedback, career conversations, program reflections, and recognition of the interns' contributions and successful completion of the program.

  • Contribute to meaningful technical projects within your assigned focus area.  

  • Work alongside engineers, technical leaders, and cross-functional team members.  

  • Participate in Agile ceremonies, including sprint planning, standups, reviews, and retrospectives.  

  • Research, develop, test, analyze, or document technical solutions based on project needs.  

  • Communicate progress, challenges, and results to your mentor and project team.  

  • Take ownership of assigned work, seek guidance when needed, and follow through on commitments.  

  • Participate in professional development, mentorship, and learning opportunities throughout the program.  

  • Present your work and key takeaways during Trilogy's end-of-program capstone event.

Required Qualifications 

  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Cybersecurity, Data Science, or another related technical field.   

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.  

  • Ability to communicate technical concepts and document work clearly.  

  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with a team.  

  • Demonstrated curiosity, initiative, and willingness to learn.  

  • Ability to participate full-time for the duration of the 12-week program.  

  • Ability to attend required onsite program sessions in Bridgeport, West Virginia.  

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Academic, personal, or professional experience with software development, AI/ML, cloud technologies, DevOps, cybersecurity, data, automation, or another relevant technical area.  

  • Familiarity with Git, GitLab, GitHub, or another version control platform.  

  • Exposure to Agile software development practices.  

  • Previous experience with technical projects, research, coursework, hackathons, or internships.  

  • Demonstrated ability to take initiative and manage multiple priorities.  

Compensation: $20.00 per hour based on 35 hours of work per week. Trilogy will provide or reimburse approved travel and lodging expenses associated with the required Summer Tech Summit in Bridgeport, WV. 

Work Authorization: Must be a U.S. citizen due to the nature of the work and applicable federal contract and security requirements. Upon hire, you will be required to provide documentation establishing your identity and authorization to work in the United States in accordance with federal Form I-9 requirements. 

Expected work schedule: Ability to work 35 hours per week for the duration of the program, including availability during core collaboration hours of 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Eastern Time.
