About the Job
We are looking for a Technical Group Leader to lead our Process Engineering team in the Oils and Fats Industry. This is a new position created due to the growth in our business volume and team size. We want to focus on mentorship and support of our technical and process experts and therefore are looking for a new colleague to join us in our growth journey. The ideal candidate will have experience within Edible Oils, many years of experience from multi-stakeholder projects, and a background in dealing with customers as a Process Lead. You will be responsible for a team of 4-5 competent Process Engineers.
Key Responsibilities:
Team Development and Management:
- Plan resources for customer and internal projects.
- Ensure project teams have the necessary competence to address the complexity of the projects.
- Develop resources and competencies for the team.
- Capture improvements needed and plan and execute continuous projects.
- Monitor team capacity to ensure optimal resource allocation.
- Collaborate closely with the Principal Process Engineer and Control Interface Engineer.
- Identify gaps in workflows and propose updates to procedures and Quality Management systems.
- Collaborate closely with Cost Estimation Engineers to ensure project budgets are accurate and competitive.
- Demonstrate excellent communication and coordination skills to effectively manage team interactions and project requirements.
- Take responsibility for a team of 4-5 competent Process Engineers.
Technical Oversight and Support:
- Execute customer projects as a process engineer or process lead.
- Participate in troubleshooting and commissioning.
- Secure quality control of engineering works.
- Ensure global instructions are implemented in customer projects.
- Maintain shared databases and record lessons learned and know-how as per instructions in the global team.
Quality Assurance and Control:
- Monitor and evaluate the technical quality of work produced by process engineers/leads.
- Implement quality control processes to ensure excellence in all engineering outputs.
- Provide feedback and suggestions for continuous improvement.
- Ensure project execution complies with QMS.
Mentorship and Training:
- Mentor and train process leads and junior engineers in advanced process engineering concepts and practices.
- Lead knowledge-sharing sessions and workshops.
- Drive documentation of Alfa Laval know-how in the process area.
- Secure lessons learned are documented and being discussed with key stakeholders for future improvements.
- Drive Continuous improvements activities and secure documentation and guidelines created to mitigate the risks in the future.
Project Management Support:
- Assist in project planning, particularly in defining technical scopes and resource allocation.
- Provide input for risk management and mitigation strategies.
Global Support and Alignment:
- Provide support to the global organization in areas of engineering, commissioning, and troubleshooting.
- Proactively improve engineering solutions used globally, adapting to evolving industry standards and technologies.
- Ensure various project types, including traditional oil business and HVO (Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil), are designed and executed in compliance with industry requirements specific to each area.
- Active participation in update of QMS systems for various sites.
- Provide input to global process alignment sessions, knowledge sharing and activities.
Approximately 50 days of travel per year to various global locations for project support, team meetings, and client interactions.
What you know
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in Oils and Fats process engineering, with a proven track record in a leadership or advisory role.
- Extensive knowledge of Oils and Fats process engineering principles, standards, and practices.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a multicultural team environment.
- Willingness to travel internationally to project sites.
- Willing to lead a team of experts.
- Cross-cultural awareness.
