The Technical Expert- Static and Dynamic Sealing will ensure that the sealing function within transmission, axle, and drive unit products is delivered and function risks are mitigated using FMEA tools.
This role will publish and maintain design requirements for sealing-relevant components (gaskets, radial lip seals, liquid sealant, o-rings, flanges) and be instrumental in solving sealing-based failure modes discovered in physical testing or via warranty analysis.

- Able to lead technical discussions and deep dives to balanced conclusions.
- Understands upfront design, verification plan and methods, and industrialization process.
- Authors requirements, rules, methods in a manner that institutionalizes key learnings.- Author and maintain design engineering specifications for sealing-relevant components (gaskets, radial lip seals, liquid seals, o-rings, flanges, among others).
- Co-Lead technical peer reviews with component supervisors.- Coach, mentor, and train D&R engineers across all the global regions.
- Own the sealing-relevant warranty spend including driving best practices across supply base.
- Responsible (Owner) for the creation and maintenance of the Core Engineering Documents (FMA Documents, SDS/ Requirements and Test Procedures, etc.)
- Integral to Signoff of System/Subsystem/Component with specific signoff responsibility before Chief Signoff. What you'll do...
- Go-To for Problem Solving
- Launch, Recall, Quality / Field Issues, DV/PV issues.
- Conduct global supplier onsite reviews at component plants and recommend best practices for manufacturing process and quality control.
- Provide technical support to the Architecture, Core, and Applications teams for the development of sealing strategies.
- Develop and own interfaces with interfacing component/systems on boundary diagram including joint specs, device transmittals, and development of manufacturing processes relevant to delivering sealing function to powertrain/ driveline system.
- Conduct benchmarking to optimize component design for future programs.
- Provide Technical leadership to broader Underbody Systems engineering teams.
- Leverage CAE modelling capability to optimize quality, maximize efficiency, minimize cost, and maintain/justify design rules according to first principles.
- Create and Conduct training sessions.
- Leads Technical Design Reviews (TDRs) for System/Subsystem/Component.
QualificationsYou'll have...
BS in Engineering.
10 years of design & release experience with powertrain/ driveline systems & components, including specific experience on launch.
6+ years of design & release experience with sealing-relevant components.

Master's degree in engineering.
Extensive experience creating and managing DFMEA/PFMEA/SCCAF/Control Plans/ drawings.
Experience with CAE tools and methods.
Extensive knowledge & experience with associated supplier manufacturing and quality processes.
Proven history of evaluating choices and directing a team based on technical ideals balanced with industrialization realities.
Required leadership skills- quality focused as #1 priority, innovative, excellent communicator, strong organizational skills, highly motivated self-starter.
Selected candidates will be required to provide an evidence book for review as a condition of the interview process.
Demonstrated ability to lead and align collections of people that do not directly report to this position (lead the collection of sub system and component technical specialists that make up the TS team contributing to the power unit success).
Ability to institutionalize the key factors of power unit success and lessons learned through documentation (design rules, SDS, technical design guides, etc.) and to teach associated learning sessions.
Proven skills in communicating your technical opinion effectively at all levels of management and to cross-functional teams to drive the company in a winning direction.

This position is leadership level 6 and ranges from $115,500-$218,100.
Final determination of salary grade will be based on candidate's skills and experience, and base salary will be set within the applicable range according to job scope, responsibility and competitive market value.
