We are looking for a Technical Consultant to focus on coordinating training and knowledge-sharing across IT units, ensuring that investments in vendors, tools, and SMEs translate into structured learning, reusable assets, and improved execution across teams. This position will be a full-time contract and hybrid in Trenton, NJ.
Hybrid schedule is desired. 1-2 days per week in person is preferred.
What You'll Do
Develop and maintain a ~6-month IT enablement roadmap aligned to key initiatives
Partner with SMEs (AWS, Salesforce, MuleSoft, AI, etc.) to identify skill gaps and coordinate training
Translate technical knowledge into structured sessions, materials, and reusable assets (playbooks, guides, templates)
Design and develop training curriculum and instructional content — not just coordinate delivery
Coordinate and schedule training sessions across audiences (executive, supervisor, functional teams)
Work with supervisors to align training to real project needs and team gaps
Deliver 2–3 pilot sessions (e.g., AI/GenAI, Agile, ITIL) and refine approach based on feedback
Establish lightweight tracking for training participation, skill gaps, and adoption
Provide periodic updates on progress, engagement, and impact
What You'll Need
Required:
10+ years of overall IT experience
3–5+ years of experience in IT training, enablement, instructional design, or curriculum development
Experience working across multiple IT domains (e.g., AppDev, Cloud, IT Operations, Platforms)
Demonstrated proficiency with AI tools (e.g., ChatGPT, Claude, or similar) to accelerate content development, training material creation, and documentation
Demonstrated ability to build training content from scratch — not solely facilitate existing material
Ability to translate technical concepts into practical, user-friendly training content
Experience developing roadmaps, training plans, or reusable documentation
Strong coordination and stakeholder management skills across technical teams and leadership
Preferred:
12+ years of IT experience
Experience establishing or supporting an IT enablement or capability-building function from the ground up
Familiarity with Agile methodologies and ITIL framework
Exposure to AI/GenAI tools and use cases in IT environments
Experience with platforms such as AWS, MuleSoft, Salesforce, and ServiceNow
Experience with Learning Management Systems (LMS) — evaluation, implementation, or administration
Experience delivering executive-level presentations or training sessions
NJ public sector or large government enterprise experience strongly preferred
Physical Demands
Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA and other federal, state, and local standards
Sedentary work that involves sitting or remaining stationary most of the time with occasional need to move around the office to attend meetings, etc.
Ability to conduct repetitive tasks on a computer, utilizing a mouse, keyboard, and monitor.

$75 to $85 per hourThe pay range for this position is listed above. Exact compensation may vary based on several factors, including location, experience, and education. Benefit packages include medical, dental, and vision insurance, as well as 401k retirement account access. Employees in this role may also be entitled to paid sick leave and/or other paid time off as provided by applicable law.
