Summary Generated by Built In

Force Information Systems Limited (FIS), a Harris Computer company, is currently recruiting for a Technical Consultant on a permanent, remote-working basis.

You'll be hands-on across the full delivery lifecycle: scoping customer requirements, configuring and deploying our products into customer environments, integrating with third-party systems, troubleshooting complex technical issues, and helping shape our roadmap based on what you see in the field.

This role is genuinely varied. One week you might be on-site with a police force walking through a deployment plan; the next you might be writing SQL upgrade scripts, debugging an API integration, or working alongside our developers on a new feature. You'll work across our existing estate (VB6, .NET Framework, SQL Server) and our modernisation efforts (.NET Core, Node.js, Azure).

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead technical implementations of our products into customer environments, including on-premise and Azure-hosted deployments

  • Act as the primary technical contact for customers during onboarding, integration, and post-go-live support

  • Configure, install, and upgrade our software stack — IIS, SQL Server, gMSA, certificates, and networking

  • Build and maintain integrations between our products and customer systems via REST APIs and other interfaces

  • Investigate and resolve technical issues across legacy and modern codebases, working closely with the development team

  • Produce clear technical documentation, runbooks, and customer-facing implementation guides

  • Contribute to product improvements based on customer feedback and field experience

Essential Skills

  • Strong SQL Server experience — writing complex queries, troubleshooting performance, schema design, and upgrade scripts

  • Solid .NET background (C#, ASP.NET, .NET Framework 4.x and/or .NET Core)

  • Experience working with and consuming REST APIs

  • Confident in customer-facing situations — able to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and manage expectations professionally

  • Practical experience deploying and configuring software in Windows Server environments (IIS, networking, certificates, service accounts)

  • A diagnostic mindset — comfortable digging into logs, traces, and unfamiliar code to find root causes

Desirable Skills

  • Azure experience — virtual networks, NSGs, App Services, SQL Azure, or similar

  • Node.js / TypeScript exposure (we have services running on this stack)

  • Legacy technology experience — VB6, classic ASP, Crystal Reports — would be a significant advantage given our codebase

  • Familiarity with regulated, public sector, or law enforcement environments

  • PowerShell or other automation/scripting skills

  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines (Azure DevOps, GitHub Actions)

What We Do

For over 25 years, Harris Healthcare has been rising to the challenge of bringing together the most innovative and sustainable solutions for today’s ever-changing healthcare environment, in order to improve patient care and safety. Each one of our solutions brings organizational efficiencies on its own. Powerful synergies are achieved when multiple solutions are implemented together. It includes a full complement of applications integrated in one single database, provides solid clinical decision support to your clinicians and helps standardize care while enforcing protocols and best practices at any Healthcare Organization. HARRIS Flex conveys the digital solution’s flexibility and strength. Healthcare organizations are continuously faced with new challenges and situations and require flexible EHR’s that can be rapidly adapted to their evolving clinical practice. Contrary to other EHR solutions which are inflexible and where customizations require costly support from the vendor, HARRIS Flex gives you the freedom to "flex" your EHR as you need it entirely on your own. The enhanced HARRIS Flex solution comes with new functionality including: ♦Flex Telehealth which enables virtual visits directly from within the EHR/EPR, and ♦Flex Clinical Insight which facilitates extraction and analysis of your EHR/EPR data to improve your processes and outcomes. ♦ SynergyCheck – a proactive interface monitoring solution watching over Clinical, Financial and other interfaces 24/7 to ensure data is flowing between systems
