Scope:
The Platform Administration team partners with engineering and business groups to ensure a secure, highly available, and cost-efficient enterprise Snowflake environment across Dev, UAT, Pre-Prod, and Prod environments.
This role operates within a 24x7 rotational shift model (Day, Afternoon, Night), serving as the primary L3 escalation contact and ensuring zero information gaps across global follow-the-sun coverage.
The position focuses heavily on executing automated platform operations—managing disaster recovery failovers, optimizing platform FinOps, enforcing automated identity lifecycles (SCIM), and guiding L1/L2 platform support engineers.
Technical Environment :
Snowflake Platform Administration: Multi-Cluster Warehouses, Resource Monitors, Storage & Compute Optimization, Time Travel, Fail-safe, Zero-Copy Cloning, Organization & Account Management, Replication Groups.
Security & Identity Management: Hierarchical RBAC models, SCIM Provisioning, SSO/SAML Integrations (Okta, Microsoft Entra ID), Network Policies (PrivateLink), OAuth, Key Pair Authentication.
Governance & Compliance: Dynamic Data Masking, Row Access Policies, Object Tagging for data classification, Secure Data Sharing, routine audit logging (ISO 27001 compliance).
Platform Resilience & Integrations: Account Replication, Cross-Region Failover/Disaster Recovery (DR), integration with observability/SIEM tools (Datadog, Splunk).
Infrastructure & Operations (DataOps): Terraform (Infrastructure-as-Code), CI/CD pipelines for object deployment (GitHub Actions/GitLab), ITIL/ITSM incident management (ServiceNow/Jira).
Automation & Scripting: Python (admin automation, REST APIs), SnowSQL, Shell Scripting for automated user lifecycle management.
What you’ll do:
Design & Architect: Implement and maintain robust hierarchical RBAC models and Identity Provider integrations (Okta/Entra ID) for SCIM-based automated user provisioning and SSO. Enforce strict Network Policies restricting access to approved corporate IP ranges and private endpoints.
Automate & Deliver: Automate routine platform administration, such as user lifecycle management (onboarding, role changes, offboarding), using Python scripts invoking Snowflake REST APIs. Deploy Snowflake infrastructure and object changes utilizing Terraform modules via GitLab/GitHub CI/CD pipelines.
Guide & Govern: Own the platform FinOps practice by configuring resource monitors with credit-cap alerts, right-sizing virtual warehouses, enforcing auto-suspend/resume policies, and producing chargeback reports. Mentor L1/L2 support engineers on performance interpretation and native monitoring techniques.
Operate & Optimize: Act as the primary L3 escalation contact across rotating shifts to triage and resolve critical platform incidents (e.g., warehouse concurrency saturation, replication failures, SCIM sync errors). Execute cross-region DR drills, manage Snowflake vendor support tickets, and configure platform telemetry exports to Datadog and Splunk for real-time alerting.
What we are looking for:
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Technology, or a related technical field.
5 + years of overall IT/Operations experience, with a minimum of 5 years explicitly dedicated to deep Snowflake platform administration and architecture.
Proven experience operating in a 24x7 rotational shift environment, managing strict ITIL change/incident management processes (ServiceNow/Jira), and authoring structured shift handoff documentation.
Deep proficiency in designing complex RBAC models, SCIM automated user provisioning, and implementing robust FinOps cost-reduction strategies at an enterprise scale.
Hands-on expertise utilizing Infrastructure-as-Code (Terraform) for database deployments and scripting (Python/SnowSQL) for administrative automation.
Certifications: SnowPro Core required. SnowPro Advanced: Administrator is highly preferred. Additional certifications in Terraform, AWS/Azure, or ITIL 4 are a significant plus.
