ABOUT THE ROLE
Do you want to play a key role in shaping talent strategy, fostering communities of practice and driving continuous learning and career growth for a team of engineers and/or other technical experts at Tech side of H&M? In the role as Competence Manager in Supply Chain, Transport & Trade Area, your focus is on people leadership and competence development, ensuring individuals have the right capabilities and conditions to thrive and contribute effectively across delivery teams.
As this role holds formal staff responsibility, your responsibilities will include annual salary reviews and performance reviews, career development, coaching, and mentoring for your team members – with the overall goal to create a high-performing environment that encourages collaboration and innovation.
The role offers the opportunity to contribute in many ways, with plenty of room for learning, development, and participation in various initiatives. You’ll work closely with other Competence Managers and other leaders in the area, giving you multiple points of contact throughout the organization.
WHAT YOU’LL DO
Key Responsibilities:
Hold formal staff responsibility for engineers and technical experts, including performance reviews, salary reviews, development plans and employee engagement.
Coach, mentor and support individuals in their career growth, technical development and day-to-day challenges.
Work closely with Engineering Managers, Product Managers and Area leadership on workforce planning, team health, capability needs and succession planning.
Support hiring, onboarding, and retention of both employees and consultants.
Foster an inclusive, psychologically safe and high-performing environment where people can collaborate, learn, and grow.
Support competence development across the area, including knowledge sharing, communities of practice, and continuous improvement.
Act as a people-focused escalation point for topics that may impact delivery teams.
WHO YOU’LL WORK WITH
You will belong to the Supply Chain Domain that shapes and steers the global inventory flow by bringing together supply planning and logistics into a unified end‑to‑end agenda. Through the areas Assortment Build, Plan & Quantify, in‑season Optimization, Warehouse, and Transport & Trade, the domain builds the business and technology capabilities needed to balance availability, stock efficiency and cost, while enabling reliable, scalable and customer‑centric operations across all channels.
You will belong to the Transport & Trade Area that drives the global Transport & Trade agenda by developing business and technology solutions that enable standardized, efficient, and value-driven operations. Leads international freight, domestic distribution and trade processes, supported by a robust supply chain backbone for logistics and its correlated financial transactions.
WHO YOU ARE

Formal staff responsibility in a tech environment, ideally 3–5+ years, including performance reviews, salary reviews, development conversations, employee engagement, workforce planning and people-related HR processes.
Experience leading and developing engineers or technical experts, preferably across larger or multi-team environments with both employees and consultants.
Strong software engineering background or technical understanding, with experience from software solutions, platforms, services, architecture and the end-to-end software development lifecycle.
Strong stakeholder management skills, with the ability to collaborate and influence across Engineering, Product, Area leadership and People teams.
Experience creating psychologically safe, inclusive and high-performing team environments, with a focus on collaboration, well-being, and continuous improvement.
Fluent English communication skills.
