Job Description

Palo Alto Networks is seeking a Technical Business Consultant to join its Planning & Operations team supporting the Worldwide Technical Solutions GTM motions.  You will play a pivotal role in shaping the future of our technical selling capabilities. You will become deeply embedded within the business, gaining a thorough understanding of their priorities and go-to-market strategies. You will then partner closely with our IT organization to translate these insights into impactful tool enhancements that directly support and elevate the technical selling community. This role offers the chance to drive significant improvements, streamline processes, and contribute to the overall success of our global sales efforts.

Strategic Alignment & Business Acumen:

  • Immerse yourself in the Worldwide Technical Solutions organization to understand business priorities, challenges and go-to-market motions

  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to align on quarterly initiatives and identify opportunities for technology-driven innovation that supports the future state of the business

  • Contribute to the development and execution of strategic plans to modernize tooling and processes for the technical selling community

IT Partnership & Solution Definition:

  • Forge strong relationships with key stakeholders within IT to effectively communicate business needs and drive the prioritization of tool enhancements

  • Actively listen to and analyze business requirements, asking insightful questions to uncover underlying needs and pain points.

  • Translate business requirements into clear and concise technical specifications, including user stories, use cases, and process flow diagrams

  • Maintain and manage a comprehensive backlog of tool enhancements and a corresponding roadmap, ensuring alignment with business priorities and IT capabilities

Agile Collaboration & Delivery:

  • Actively participate in Agile ceremonies (sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives) to ensure developed features accurately reflect business needs and deliver value

  • Provide ongoing clarity and context to the development team regarding business objectives and expected outcomes

  • Contribute to the successful delivery of tool enhancements, ensuring they meet business requirements and are effectively adopted by the technical selling community

Future-Forward Thinking & Automation:

  • Stay informed about the impact of emerging technologies, particularly AI, on the future of the business and identify opportunities for strategic implementation

  • Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and implement plans for leveraging automation and modern tooling to enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of the technical selling community

Qualifications

  • 6+ years relevant experience in a global role that involves understanding business processes and translating them into actionable requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with both business stakeholders and IT teams

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to understand complex business problems and propose technology-driven solutions

  • Experience in gathering and documenting business requirements through various methods (e.g., user stories, use cases, process flows)

  • Familiarity with software development lifecycles (SDLC), particularly Agile methodologies

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to present information clearly and concisely to different audiences

  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities

  • Skilled in  tools such as SFDC, Tableau, Workday, Excel, Google Suite

  • Understanding of technical industry, with focus on technical selling community

  • Experience with understanding product vision, roadmap and GTM strategies

  • Proficient with applications, tools, and methodologies used to organize, manage, report progress, and deliver programs and projects

  • Experienced in driving large cross-functional programs/initiatives, building relationships, and leading through influence

  • Effective executive-level verbal and written communication and comfort with both technical and business discussions with senior audiences

Planning and Operations provides operational excellence for the Worldwide Shared Services team, including budget, program management, analytics, and headcount.

Compensation Disclosure

The compensation offered for this position will depend on qualifications, experience, and work location. For candidates who receive an offer at the posted level, the starting base salary (for non-sales roles) or base salary + commission target (for sales/commissioned roles) is expected to be between $154000 - $208000/YR. The offered compensation may also include restricted stock units and a bonus. A description of our employee benefits may be found here.
