We are looking for an execution-focused, highly technical Technical Account Manager (TAM) specializing in enterprise identity, including Okta’s Workforce Identity Cloud (WIC) and Customer Identity Solutions (CIS).
In this role, you will serve as a trusted technical advisor to mid-market and enterprise customer portfolios. You will cut through complexity, proactively optimize configurations, and guide customers on architectural best practices across hybrid SaaS, on-premise, and custom application environments.
As a TAM at Okta, you embody a bias for action: you dig into technical details, eliminate architectural friction, and turn post-sales guidance into measurable customer traction.
Key Responsibilities1. Proactive Technical Leadership & Customer Value- Strategic Technical Guidance: Partner as the technical counterpart to Customer Success Managers (CSMs) across mid-market and enterprise account portfolios, translating complex customer requirements into tangible business value.
- Architecture & Security Health Checks: Audit customer Okta configurations and deployment architectures to continuously strengthen security posture, accelerate feature adoption, and drive ROI as Okta releases new features.
- Retention & Health Acceleration: Track and influence key account health metrics, using technical insight to drive product usage, reduce friction, and prevent churn.
- Escalation & Technical Advisory: Address reactive technical inquiries and complex architectural blockers rapidly, breaking down multi-layered IAM challenges into simple, actionable steps.
- Executive & Stakeholder Alignment: Build trusted technical relationships with C-level executives, IT directors, architects, and developers, establishing credibility as Okta’s subject matter expert.
- Friction Elimination: Identify recurring implementation bottlenecks across your account portfolio and partner with Product and Engineering to streamline workflows for customer teams.
- Product & Domain Expertise: Maintain deep, cutting-edge mastery across Workforce Identity Cloud (WIC), Customer Identity Solutions (CIS), and surrounding identity/security ecosystems.
- Enablement & Content Creation: Drive the creation of technical best-practice guides, architecture patterns, and enablement content for both internal TA teams and external customer groups.
- Thrive in Technology Shifts: Continuously adapt to emerging identity trends, security threats, and AI-driven identity capabilities, ensuring customer environments remain modern and resilient.
- 5+ years of total experience in information technology, with at least 3 years of hands-on experience as a Technical Account Manager (TAM) or comparable practitioner role in the IAM space
- Ability to work US Time Zone (preference)
- Familiarity with IAM solution providers is strongly desired.
- Strong background in any of the following: Technical Account Management, Technical Consulting, Solution Architect, Solutions Engineering, Product Management or similar role.
- Understanding of common software development practice. Understanding of identity and surrounding technologies.
- Strong business acumen, history of success owning enterprise segment customer relationships and escalations
- Excellent communication skills. Ability to set expectations and communicate goals and objectives with customers at various levels.
- Ability to track and influence customer behavior and health metrics across a portfolio of accounts
