Role Overview
We are looking for a Mid-Level Backend Engineer to build and maintain core backend services for a modern banking platform. You will work on microservices, API integrations, event-driven processing, and production-grade engineering practices in a cloud-native environment.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain backend services using Java/SpringBoot/Quarkus.
Build asynchronous/event-driven services using Kafka.
Implement and consume REST/gRPC APIs for internal and external integrations.
Design robust processing flows with retries, error handling, and observability.
Work with PostgreSQL-compatible databases (including distributed SQL setups) and schema migrations.
Write unit, integration, and API tests; contribute to code quality and CI/CD standards.
Participate in incident troubleshooting and continuous reliability improvement.
Must-Have Skills
4-6 years of backend engineering experience with strong Java fundamentals.
Hands-on experience with Spring Boot for microservice development.
Experience with microservices and REST API development.
Practical knowledge of Kafka/event-driven architecture.
Working knowledge of SQL and relational databases (PostgreSQL or similar).
Experience with Liquibase (or equivalent migration tooling).
Familiarity with Docker and Kubernetes/OpenShift basics.
Experience with automated testing (JUnit and API testing tools).
Nice-to-Have
Quarkus framework experience.
gRPC exposure.
Domain exposure to banking/payments/financial services.
Apache Camel experience.
BDD testing (Cucumber), Testcontainers.
