Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Tech 3 Network Engineer to join our Enterprise Engineering team. You will drive Metro-E installations, manage critical network infrastructure, and provide expert technical support across our core, data center, and head-end environments. Recommended Certifications: CCNA, JNCIA, CIENA Associate, Key Responsibilities • Deploy Metro-E services for new enterprise installations and data center clients. • Resolve complex outages through rapid troubleshooting and field technician coordination. • Install head-end equipment including physical rack mounting, wiring, and hardware repair. • Validate technical designs by verifying Visio diagrams, construction documents, and CPE configurations. • Provision core devices by managing configurations, wavelengths, and light level thresholds. • Support field teams including Comtech technicians and Plant Maintenance staff during deployments. • Partner with Sales Engineering to analyze customer data usage and verify lit city infrastructure. • Test new products within the Corporate Lab to verify operational processes and readiness. • Mentor junior staff by training Comtech technicians and serving as a Subject Matter Expert. Qualifications • Proven experience with Metro-E architecture and Data Center Transport (CRAN) systems. • Strong hands-on skills in core device configuration and physical layer wiring. • Proficiency in reading Visio circuit designs and technical construction documents. • Experience troubleshooting wavelength allocations and optical light levels. This position is 50% travel with a company vehicle and 50% working in home base at 3760 Hartsfield Rd., Tallahassee, FL
Job Description
Responsibilities:
- Executing advanced network and OTN maintenance, including system configurations and network management, with minimal supervision
- Contributing to the engineering department's annual budget process, providing insights to align with strategic network goals
- Maintaining and configuring network devices, like hubs, switches, and routers, to enhance network performance
- Managing network notifications, forms, and outage tickets to streamline maintenance activities and system reliability
- Testing and ensuring the functionality of optical rings, add-drop multiplexers, and power systems for optimal network stability
- Overseeing the installation and maintenance of essential network engineering equipment within departmental standards
- Leading local installation and routine maintenance of transport systems and facilities to support network operations
- Providing expertise in configuring and troubleshooting customer devices, such as gateways, routers, and VoIP/video units
- Participating in operational meetings, conference calls, and conferences to collaborate and share expertise
- Regular, consistent and punctual attendance. Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s) and overtime as necessary.
