About the role:
Xero Reporting transforms accounting data into clear, actionable insights for small businesses and accountants. We are committed to providing best-in-market reporting that simplifies complex data, empowering customers and advisors to make meaningful, timely, and accurate business decisions.
Our area is made up of three pods, two Product pods (Off the Charts and Cash Me Outside) and one Platform Pod (Ctrl-Alt-Elite).
Reporting is a complex space we have a hybrid .Net Framework 4.8 (in C#) on xero-appserver and .NET 8. We are attempting to migrate as many of our components to .Net 8 (C#) on linux paas kubernetes. We have SQL Server databases, two dynamodb tables and an S3 bucket. Our frontend is written in React using XUI.

How you'll make an impact:
Lead and Inspire Engineering Excellence! Drive high-performing engineering teams to deliver exceptional software with speed and quality. As a Team Lead, you'll empower your engineers to excel, cultivate a world-class culture, and ensure a sustainable, productive environment where they can do their best work. You'll champion engineering excellence, foster individual growth, and ensure the team consistently delivers valuable, resilient solutions that delight our customers.
What you'll bring:
- You’ll be a seasoned Team Lead, bringing substantial experience in guiding software delivery and engineering teams through Lean and/or Agile methodologies.
- Your deep understanding of modern software delivery practices and the entire software development lifecycle is evident in your track record of successful team leadership.
- You’ll have a proven track record as coach and mentor, adept at leveraging your extensive software delivery, technical experience, and expertise to provide impactful guidance. Enabling you to deliver the right knowledge at the right time and in the most effective way.
- You'll possess high EQ and a true growth mindset; understanding that competency is not fixed but is enhanced through dedication and hard work. You'll be self aware, self regulated, motivated and empathetic, with great interpersonal skills.
- You'll have a strong understanding of the importance of Xero's Engineering standards and practices and are able to coach teams to adhere to them.
What you'll do:
- You’ll lead by example, providing hands-on technical mentorship, guiding engineers to grow their skills and adopt best practices.
- You’ll collaborate cross-functionally working closely with Product Managers, Team Leads, Principal Engineers, Lead engineers and other technical leaders to align team efforts with broader division and company goals.
- You’ll maintain a working environment in which your team can do their best work predictably and sustainably, and with a sense of purpose.
- You’ll make sure the team has all the information they need and the right feedback loops in place to discover and deliver valuable, usable, and buildable outcomes.
- You’ll monitor and look to support the operational health of your team and products, aiming for resilience.
- You will support your team to hone their engineering skills and grow as individuals in order to meet the capabilities required for the team.
- Your focus will be on driving engineering initiatives and ensuring the team makes progress towards their goals.
- You’ll hire talented engineers who share our values and set them up for success from day one.
