biBerk is building a cloud-first, API driven, dynamic insurance platform that enables customers to purchase insurance policies directly online. Expanding our team, we are adding experienced DevOps innovators to enhance our development efforts.
This role combines technical expertise with leadership skills. The DevOps Team Lead position will lead a team of DevOps Engineers, help coordinate the day-to-day activities of various team members, assist the team with roadblocks, and lead planning sessions. This team lead will work closely with other development and technology teams to support their efforts. They will also serve as an individual contributor on the DevOps team, taking on tasks for both technical design and development.
Job Responsibilities
- Manage biBerk’s DevOps team
- Serve as technical SME for DevOps
- Design DevOps processes and procedures to meet business objectives while fitting into the enterprise platform ecosystem
- Contribute to cross-team platform design decisions
- Collaborate with the Product team to ensure that requirements are understood, and short-term and long-term business objectives are met
- Follow department-wide technical, process, and quality standards while contributing to their improvement
- Participate in staffing decisions including interviews and hiring
- Take a lead role in creating technical documentation and content, ensuring that knowledge is transferred across the team
- Lead the DevOps team to think with a security first mindset
- Take ownership of problems and solutions, being proactive to ensure success
- Provide innovative problem-solving skills, thinking outside the box
- Occasional travel to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton PA area for strategy meetings (several times per year)
- Collaborate with biBerk’s development teams
- Manage sprints for the DevOps team
- Assist other members of the DevOps team with projects as needed
- Collaborate with other biBerk IT team members to troubleshoot Azure issues
- Design and create build pipelines in Azure DevOps
- Design and create release pipelines in Azure DevOps
- Create Azure ARM, Bicep templates and PowerShell scripts as needed for infrastructure as code deployments
- Manage and modify existing pipelines, troubleshoot issues with deployments
- Manage and modify existing build agents and servers
- Manage existing Azure PaaS resources
- Manage existing Azure DevOps organization and projects
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science/Engineering/Related field or equivalent working experience
- 10+ Years of proven experience as a DevOps engineer or similar role, with at least three years of management experience
- Strong verbal and written communication skills, collaboration capabilities, and attention to detail
- Experience working on large software development projects while collaborating across multiple agile teams
- Ability to work from 8:00AM-4:30PM eastern time, this is currently a full-time remote position
- Ability to participate in an on-call rotation for after-hours requests

In accordance with pay transparency laws and regulations, the following good faith compensation range estimate is being provided. The salary range for this position is $130,000 - $160,000 per year. Final compensation will be based on candidate qualifications, geographic location, and other considerations permitted by law.
