Leads first-shift manufacturing operations by coordinating safety, quality, staffing, production targets, documentation, and line coverage. Monitors performance and downtime, supports lean manufacturing, corrective actions, engineering changes, and first-time quality objectives. Coaches team members, maintains 5S and housekeeping standards, and communicates across functions. Ensures compliance with Magna and OSHA requirements, supports emergency readiness and investigations, and maintains efficient plant operations.

Job Responsibilities:

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE POSITIONS:  

  • Lead daily safety, quality, and production activities, including pre-shift meetings, inspections, safety talks, and communication of production targets.
  • Ensure compliance with Magna, OSHA, and plant safety standards, including audits, emergency response readiness, accident investigations, and safe work practices.
  • Coordinate staffing, job assignments, break relief, manpower planning, and production line coverage to maintain operational efficiency.
  • Monitor production performance through data collection, downtime tracking, reporting, shift pass-downs, and accurate documentation.
  • Drive quality and continuous improvement initiatives by supporting corrective actions, lean manufacturing, engineering changes, calibration requirements, and first-time quality goals.
  • Develop and coach team members through training, performance feedback, leadership support, and ongoing skill development.
  • Maintain effective cross-functional communication, inventory and housekeeping standards (5S), and support overall safety, quality, delivery, and productivity objectives.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS 

EDUCATION: 

  • High School Diploma or GED required

WORK EXPERIENCE / TECHNICAL TRAINING: 

  • Valid driver's license and ability to obtain and maintain a forklift license, including required certification and recertification training.
  • Experience with SAP or similar manufacturing/ERP systems preferred.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and team leadership skills.
  • Proficient mathematical, analytical, problem-solving, and organizational abilities.
  • Ability to work effectively in various plant environments, both indoors and outdoors, and adapt to changing operational needs.
