Enterprise Infrastructure Architecture

Compensation 

Teaching Assistant, Course Coordinator and Lab Demonstrator positions are paid according to the qualifications that the employee holds.  

  • Employees who do NOT hold a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the undergraduate rate - $23.30 per hour. (Rate effective September 1, 2026) 

  • Employees who hold a 4-year honours degree or a 3-year pass degree will be paid the graduate rate - $36.67 per hour. (Rate effective September 1, 2026) 

  • In cases where additional duties are required as part of a Teaching Assistant’s duties, these hours shall be compensated at the appropriate Teaching Assistant rate.  

Duties 

The duties and responsibilities of the Teaching Assistant shall be in accordance with Article 22 of the CUPE Local 4207, Unit 1, Collective Agreement. These are made up of scheduled contact time with students and non-classroom time (including preparation of seminar material, student consultation, marking or grading, examination proctoring, attending lectures, holding office hours, and other course administration as may be required.

Qualifications 

  • Must have completed MBAB5P11, MBAB5P12, MBAB5P13 with a minimum of 80%, respectively.
  • Previous experience as a TA.
  • Knowledge of coding in Python is an asset.
  • Must have knowledge of cloud computing and its applications such as Amazon Web Services.
  • Must have knowledge of distributed computing systems such as Apache Hadoop.
  • Must have knowledge of NoSQL database management systems such as Mongo DB.
  • Must be familiar with the basic functions of Sakai to guide students with the uploading and/or downloading of files related to lab practices, assignments and lab tests.
  • Academic Integrity and Professionalism.
  • Proven track record of working effectively and completing assigned tasks in a timely manner.

Members shall not accept any appointment which, taken together with all other appointments at the University, would cause the member to exceed the maximum number of regular hours (i.e., not overtime hours) allowable in a work week under the Employment Standards Act, as amended from time to time.
