About the Firm

We are working with a boutique CPA firm focused on personalized accounting, tax preparation, and advisory support for small businesses and individuals. The practice values a relationship-driven approach, clear communication, and professionals who take ownership of their work. This is a fully remote opportunity with a team that trusts strong performers to deliver without constant oversight.

About the Role

This is a fully remote Tax Senior role for someone who prepares tax returns at a high standard, stays responsive with clients, and can help manage client relationships at a senior level. It is a hands-on senior position with room to grow for a high-character preparer who may become a long-term leader in the firm.

The ideal candidate is responsible, committed, and reliable. You prepare returns well, follow through without needing constant follow-up, and give the firm confidence that work is moving forward.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare individual and business tax returns with accuracy and ownership through seasonal deadlines

  • Maintain high responsiveness with clients and internal teammates; communicate clearly and follow through without prompting

  • Help manage client relationships at a senior level, including status updates, information gathering, and day-to-day client service

  • Work primarily in the Thomson Reuters stack (UltraTax, Onvio Document Manager, and Onvio Trial Balance), or ramp quickly if coming from a comparable platform

  • Own assigned work end to end so leadership can trust the process without constant check-ins

  • Stay current on relevant tax law changes and apply them thoughtfully across your book of work

Requirements
  • 3 to 5 years of public accounting tax experience preferred; strong candidates with 2+ years and high return volume (roughly 100+ returns per year) will be considered

  • Proven experience preparing tax returns; comfort with both individual and business returns is a plus

  • CPA preferred but not required; candidates who are not yet licensed are welcome

  • Experience with Thomson Reuters UltraTax and Onvio preferred; strong candidates who can learn the stack quickly will be considered

  • High reliability, ownership, and communication are hard filters: you follow through, stay responsive, and do not need constant supervision

  • Comfortable working fully remote with strong organization and self-direction

Benefits
  • Competitive compensation commensurate with experience

  • Fully remote work arrangement

  • 401(k)

  • Health insurance with substantial employer contribution (not 100% employer-paid)

  • Dental and vision offered (employee-paid)

  • Standard holidays

  • 15 days PTO

Skills Required

  • At least 2 years of public accounting tax experience, with 3 to 5 years preferred
  • Experience preparing individual and business tax returns
  • High return volume, approximately 100 or more returns per year, for candidates with only 2 years of experience
  • CPA license or certification
  • Experience with Thomson Reuters UltraTax and Onvio
  • High reliability, ownership, responsiveness, and follow-through
  • Ability to work fully remotely with strong organization and self-direction
