This position is responsible for managing the preparation, review, and delivery of partner individual tax returns, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and timely completion during peak compliance periods.

In addition to hands-on technical responsibilities, the Tax Manager serves as a primary day-to-day coordinator for the partner tax process—working closely with partners, internal teams, and senior leadership to track progress, resolve issues, and maintain high service standards. This role is well-suited for a tax professional who excels in execution, organization, and communication, and who enjoys mentoring staff while supporting firm-level tax initiatives.

Your role.

Your work will include, but not be limited to:

  • Manage the preparation, review, and filing of internal partner 1040 returns, including related state and local filings, in accordance with Firm timelines and quality standards.
  • Serve as a day-to-day point of contact for the internal partner 1040 program, coordinating workflows, monitoring deadlines, and ensuring clear communication across teams.
  • Assign, review, and supervise work performed by staff and seniors on partner returns, providing timely feedback and technical guidance.
  • Coordinate partner organizers, data collection, and follow-up requests to ensure complete and accurate information is received.
  • Track return status and progress throughout the tax season; proactively identify bottlenecks, risks, or capacity issues and escalate as needed.
  • Assist with firm-level tax planning discussions related to partner tax matters, including research and drafting of planning considerations.
  • Support IRS and state income tax examinations related to partner returns by preparing documentation and responding to information requests.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of the partner 1040 process, including standardization, use of tax technology, templates, and workflow tools.
  • Coach and develop staff through training, delegation, and performance feedback, with a focus on technical growth and seasonal readiness.
  • Provide regular updates to senior leadership on partner tax matters, deadlines, and emerging issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

The qualifications.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • CPA required
  • Minimum 6 years of progressive tax experience, with significant experience preparing and reviewing individual (1040) returns; partnership experience preferred.
  • Strong technical knowledge of individual income tax compliance and multi-state considerations.
  • Demonstrated ability to coordinate complex workflows and manage competing deadlines during peak periods.
  • Proven experience supervising and developing staff; strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to identify technical issues, apply tax guidance, and escalate complex planning or risk areas appropriately.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and comfort working directly with partners and senior stakeholders.

This is an exempt position, so you may have to work hours that exceed the standard 40-hour work week.
