Leidos is seeking a Tax Director to lead the company’s tax planning function and support strategic business initiatives. This role plays a key part in shaping tax strategy across mergers and acquisitions, global operations, and enterprise-wide initiatives.
About the Role
In this position, you will develop and implement tax strategies to minimize the company’s income tax rate and cash taxes, oversee certain international work-flows, and support one off transactions and other Leidos initiatives.
You will work closely with all levels of employees, management and outside consultants, including International Business Development, Procurement, Program Finance, Accounting and applicable business departments on various projects to drive well-informed, tax-efficient outcomes.
You are also expected to live within commuting distance to Reston - VA for onsite work several days per week.
What You’ll Do
Support M&A transactions, coordinating thorough buy-side and sell-side tax due diligence
Develop transaction "step decks" and financial models to illustrate impact of transactions on Leidos tax rate and cash taxes
Collaborate with legal, financial teams and outside advisors to design tax efficient deal structures and one-off transactions
Manage global transfer pricing process and foreign tax audits
Advise Leidos business units and programs with respect to tax impact from a program and company wide perspective
Engage with Leidos operational, legal and accounting teams to identify foreign tax requirements to assist with setting up new entities/branches and implement tax processes on a going forward basis
Assist with research of various U.S. and foreign tax technical issues and document positions
Monitor changes in US and foreign tax legislation
Assist with other ad-hoc tax projects / deliverables
What We’re Looking For
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Tax with a minimum of 15 years of corporate tax experience in either a public accounting firm or multinational company
Deep expertise in U.S. corporate tax, preferably with a mix of both public accounting and multinational company experience
Experience with aligning broader company objectives with tax strategy
Knowledge of general accounting concepts, including debits, credits, journal entries, and ability to review and understand financial data
Excellent analytic and strategic thinking skills
Experience with US tax concepts and corporate tax compliance
Ability to perform both US and foreign tax technical research and document conclusions
Excellent communication, financial and economic analysis skills
The successful candidate will demonstrate the ability to work both independently and as part of a team, and be comfortable influencing decision making
Must have the flexibility that a global company requires (e.g., be available for calls with people in other time zones, etc.)
US citizenship is required and able to obtain security clearance as needed
