Tax Digital Services, AI Engineering Intern

Do you want to help drive the next wave of technology innovation? As an intern with RSM’s Tax Digital Services team you will gain experience with development, testing, and deployment of AI and machine learning solutions that enhance business capabilities. You will work alongside top tax technology mentors developing hands-on experience working with data and models and building foundational knowledge in AI engineering practices.

Responsibilities:

  • Build and test tax applications using AI powered code development platforms using natural language prompts.
  • Assist in designing, developing, and testing machine learning models for tasks such as classification, regression, clustering, and recommendations.
  • Support preprocessing and basic analysis of datasets using standard data tools.
  • Work with data scientists, engineers, and product teams to help integrate models into production systems.
  • Assist with experiments and model evaluations, documenting results for senior team members.
  • Research and contribute to team knowledge sharing on AI/ML tools and usage.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • 90 credits towards B.A. / B.S. degree or equivalent from an accredited university in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, MIS or similar field.
  • Proficiency in at least one programming language, ideally Python, and familiarity with relevant libraries/frameworks (e.g., NumPy, Pandas, scikit-learn, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
  • Familiarity with AI powered code development platform (e.g., Copilot/GitHub Spark, Manus, Cursor)
  • Foundational knowledge of machine learning concepts, Data engineering operations (e.g: Data extraction , SQL concepts)
  • Basic knowledge of data manipulation and visualization tools.
  • Broad understanding of machine learning principles and algorithms.
  • Travel to assigned client or office location is required.  Must have access to reliable modes of transportation to these locations.
  • A minimum 3.0 GPA is preferred 

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills   
  • Strong computer skills, including proficiency in Microsoft Excel  
  • Azure AI Fundamentals or similar entry-level certification
  • Ability to work effectively on a hybrid team  
  • Ability to work and multitask in a fast-paced environment  
  • Working knowledge of analytics, data management, statistics, accounting, and computer applications

At RSM, an employee’s pay at any point in their career is intended to reflect their experiences, performance, and skills for their current role. The salary range (or starting rate for interns and associates) for this role represents numerous factors considered in the hiring decisions including, but not limited to, education, skills, work experience, certifications, location, etc. As such, pay for the successful candidate(s) could fall anywhere within the stated range.

Compensation Range: $34 - $40 per hour
