Job DescriptionTo execute tax processes and services to various stakeholders within a dedicated portfolio to minimise tax risks. Provide advisory services on tax aspects to ensure that the area is undertaken in a compliant manner to avoid operational losses, fines, penalties or reputational damage to the organisation and enable the competitive advantage of the organisation.
- Analyse the operational activities within the tax portfolio to identify compliance risks and therefore ensure adherence applicable tax legislation, regulatory requirements, and internal policies.
- Prepare and review tax returns, tax computations, regulatory submissions, and management reports in accordance with statutory and governance requirements.
- Advise business units and support functions on tax implications of products, transactions,operational activities and ensure that the portfolio can comfortably manage compliance risks and conduct activities in a compliant manner.
- Liaise with tax authorities, auditors, and other external stakeholders on tax-related matters.
- Identify opportunities to improve efficiency through process optimisation, automation, and data analytics.
- Provide training to Business, Finance and other stakeholders on tax technical matters affecting the business area.
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, economics, business administration, commerce, statistics from a recognised Institution.
- Professional qualifications such as ACCA, CPA, or Chartered Tax Adviser (CTA) certification will be an added advantage.
- Minimum of 4 to 5 years’ experience in tax compliance, tax risk management, tax audits, and tax advisory services within the Banking and Financial Services sector.
- Working knowledge of SAP, Finacle, and Microsoft Office applications, particularly advanced Excel.
- Experience leveraging automation and data analytics tools to streamline processes, enhance reporting, improve controls, and support strategic decision-making.
- Sound knowledge of direct and indirect taxes applicable to banking operations, with a solid understanding of banking products and services.
