About the role 

The role is responsible for managing Ampol’s day to day tax compliance across areas such as income tax, GST, excise and other taxes, while also supporting broader business goals by assisting with tax advice and contributing to Group Tax projects and continuous improvement initiatives


Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver taxation compliance services and analysis for responsible areas (which may include GST, income tax, excise and FBT) within agreed timeframes.
  • Demonstrate ability to develop subject matter expertise in specific areas of taxation e.g. income tax, GST, excise and FBT as applicable.
  • Research, analyse and interpret taxation law as it applies to Ampol.
  • Assist the team in providing ad hoc taxation advice to Ampol business.
  • Utilise technology to more efficiently and effectively carry out tax compliance duties including the use of robotic process automation, AI and or machine learning tools.
  • Maintain procedures and processes in line with the tax governance framework.
  • Liaise with key finance and business stakeholders to obtain necessary information required for tax compliance.
  • Identify and assist with implementation of taxation process procedure and system improvements arising from taxation developments including changes in tax legislation guidance and case law business developments and or business process changes.

 

Qualifications & Experience

  • Tertiary qualifications in Accounting or Tax
  • Relevant CA or CPA qualifications and equivalent Tax postgraduate study
  • Minimum 2 to 4 years in a tax or accounting role in a large organisation or Chartered Accounting firm
  • Familiarity with Australian accounting and tax requirements
  • Working experience with financial information processing systems or applications such as SAP
  • Ability to communicate effectively both written and verbal

Skills Required

  • Tertiary qualification in Accounting or Tax
