This role requires attention to detail, discretion, independent judgment, and a commitment to improving efficiency and accuracy in the tax preparation process. The Tax Analyst will work collaboratively with internal team members, maintain confidentiality, and contribute to a positive and accountable office culture.
Essential Functions:
Tax Compliance & Preparation
- Prepare and review partnership tax returns, including Form 1065, and individual tax returns, including Form 1040, with accuracy and timeliness.
- Perform detailed K-1 analysis, partner basis tracking, allocations, and related compliance checks.
- Monitor federal and state tax law changes and apply updates to tax preparation and compliance processes as appropriate.
- Work proficiently with Microsoft Excel and tax preparation software, including Lacerte and GoSystem Tax.
- Identify opportunities to streamline and enhance the tax preparation process through automation, workflow design, and process improvement.
- Communicate with internal team members to gather documentation, resolve questions, and support timely completion of tax projects.
- Draft correspondence to the IRS and state tax authorities.
- Provide support for financial reporting, accounting projects, and general ledger-related initiatives as needed.
- Help organize, maintain, and update client files and supporting documentation.
