Radical Numerics is an AI research lab building general biological intelligence. Our mission is to master the code of life, and our purpose is to reduce human suffering.
Our team created Evo, and started the field of generative genomics. Our work was featured on the cover of Science, and presented by our CEO on the main stage of TED2025. Evo was used to create the first AI gene therapy tool CRISPR-Cas9, and the first AI whole genome from scratch. Evo 2, featured in Nature, is the largest fully open source AI project across any domain.
Radical Numerics is bringing the rigor of distributed systems, model architecture, and numerics research to the challenges of biology. We’ve redesigned the foundation model training stack to turn the world’s raw scientific data (e.g. biological sequences, experiments, and physical processes), into intelligible, generative models that can expand and accelerate what humanity can understand, design, and cure.
The same generative breakthroughs that enable life-saving cures also lowers the barrier to creating engineered threats and AI-generated bioweapons. We believe these forces are inseparable. Radical Numerics was founded to develop both the power to design and the responsibility to defend.
About the RoleAs Talent & Office Operations Coordinator you will play a central role in shaping both the people and the environment that power Radical Numerics. You will sit at the intersection of recruiting, operations, and culture—ensuring we attract exceptional talent while building a high-functioning, detail-oriented workplace.
This is a high-ownership, execution-focused role for someone who thrives in fast-paced environments and enjoys wearing multiple hats. You will manage the candidate experience end-to-end while also building and maintaining a physical environment that enables deep, focused work.
We are a small, in-person team with offices in San Francisco and Tokyo. You will help drive office buildout—making decisions on layout, furniture, and systems in real time, often operating with speed over perfection. You will partner closely with the Head of People & Talent , CEO and hiring managers to scale the organization while ensuring the office runs seamlessly day-to-day.
Recruiting Coordination
Own interview scheduling across the company, including complex, multi-stage interview loops
Serve as the primary point of contact for candidates during interview phase, ensuring a high-quality, seamless experience
Coordinate with hiring managers to keep hiring processes fast and organized
Maintain and update ATS pipelines and candidate data
Track recruiting metrics and improve hiring workflows
Experience with Ashby a plus
Own day-to-day office operations for an in-person team of ~25 people and growing.
Manage food and kitchen logistics (DoorDash, Costco)
Oversee office supplies, snacks, and vendor relationships
Coordinate installation and iteration of office infrastructure, including:
Phone booths (existing and future additions; navigating regulations pragmatically)
Soundproofing and sound panels
Furniture layout (larger shared tables, central workspace design, couches, rugs)
Workplace tools and appliances (e.g., Bevi)
Continuously improve the physical space for focus and collaboration (artwork, plants, lighting, layout)
Source and manage furnishings (couches, rugs, tables, decor)
Work with a “build fast, iterate” mindset—many parts of the office are still in motion
Support onboarding for new hires (workspace setup, logistics, first-day experience)
Coordinate team events and internal gatherings
Handle administrative workflows (travel, scheduling, expenses) for candidates
Help implement lightweight systems for tracking, communication, and execution
Step into operational gaps and solve problems quickly and reliably
Partner with leadership on ad hoc projects across recruiting and operations
Assist with recruiting events
1–4 years of experience in recruiting coordination, office management, operations, or similar roles
Extremely organized with strong attention to detail
High ownership—you notice what’s broken and fix it without being asked
Strong interpersonal skills; you create a great experience for candidates and teammates
Ability to manage many parallel workstreams without dropping details
Comfortable working in an in-person, fast-moving startup environment
Practical and scrappy—you can navigate ambiguity, vendors, and constraints (including regulations)
Clear communicator, especially in logistics and coordination
Required - 5 days a week in San Francisco office
Experience at a high-growth or early-stage startup
Familiarity with ATS tools (Ashby, Greenhouse, Lever)
Experience coordinating technical recruiting processes
Exposure to workplace buildouts or office design
Experience managing vendors, facilities, or physical operations
Interest in AI, biology, or frontier technology

What We Do
The architectures that power modern AI were designed for language, not for science. They were never built to understand DNA, interpret experiments, or learn the rules that govern living systems. Closing this gap represents one of the defining opportunities of our time. Our team has pioneered advances across frontier AI, including the first models trained with one-million-token context windows, and now scaling toward one billion. We focus on innovations on systems and architecture, because building AI for science demands a fundamentally different foundation. As a first application of this technology engine, we are advancing AI for life, the most complex and consequential domain of all. We are the AI team behind Evo and Evo 2, the generative genomics models used to create real gene-editing tools and the first whole genomes designed entirely by AI. That work demonstrated that AI can create biology, not just analyze it. We are now building multimodal models trained directly on the fabric of biology, enabling faster discovery, deeper understanding, and entirely new capabilities. As we push the frontier of general biological intelligence, we will build systems hand-in-hand to ensure global biological resilience: rapid detection, rapid response, and rapid countermeasures against emerging threats, both natural and synthetic. Our mission is ambitious: to reimagine what AI can do for biology, and to build that future. Our advisors include Eric Horvitz, CSO of Microsoft, Chris Ré of Stanford, George Church of Harvard, and Andrew Weber, former Assistant Secretary of Defense for Nuclear, Chemical and Biological Defense Programs.
Why Work With Us
We bring the rigor of distributed systems, model architecture, and numerics research to the hard problems of scaling learning on biological data. If this resonates, we'd love to hear from you.
