This is a critical leadership role that sits at the intersection of business strategy and people capability. Partnering closely with senior business leaders, HR teams, and global Centers of Excellence, you will lead the development and execution of talent and learning strategies that strengthen leadership effectiveness, build organisational capability, accelerate succession readiness, and ensure the business has the talent required to deliver its future ambitions.

The role offers the opportunity to influence organisational performance at scale across multiple African markets, translating global talent frameworks into locally relevant, high-impact solutions that drive measurable business outcomes.

What you'll be accountable for

As the Talent & Learning Lead for SSA, you will:

  • Develop and execute the regional Talent and Learning strategy aligned to business priorities and long-term workforce needs.

  • Partner with business and HR leaders to identify critical capability requirements and design targeted interventions that drive performance and growth.

  • Lead the implementation and continuous improvement of integrated talent management practices, including succession planning, talent reviews, workforce planning, leadership development, and performance optimisation.

  • Build sustainable leadership and talent pipelines across the region, ensuring readiness for key business-critical roles.

  • Shape and embed a strong learning culture that supports continuous development, innovation, and future-fit capability.

  • Translate and localise global talent and learning programmes to ensure meaningful adoption, engagement, and impact within SSA markets.

  • Use data and insights to evaluate programme effectiveness, measure capability growth, and inform strategic talent decisions.

  • Lead and develop a regional Talent & Learning team while managing key external partnerships and learning investments.

  • Champion transformation, diversity, inclusion, skills development, and employment equity objectives across the region.

What we're looking for

You are a strategic Talent and Learning professional with a proven ability to connect people capability with business performance.

You bring:

  • Significant experience in Talent Management and Learning & Development within complex, matrixed, multinational organisations.

  • A strong track record of designing and implementing integrated talent strategies, including succession planning, leadership development, and talent review processes.

  • Experience partnering with senior leaders to diagnose organisational capability needs and deliver impactful solutions.

  • Demonstrated success in facilitating leadership development and capability-building initiatives across diverse audiences and geographies.

  • Strong commercial acumen and an understanding of how talent strategy contributes to organisational performance.

  • Exceptional stakeholder engagement and influencing skills, with the ability to operate effectively across regional and global environments.

  • The ability to balance strategic thinking with disciplined execution in a dynamic and evolving business context.

Qualifications & Expertise

  • Degree or postgraduate qualification in Human Resources, Organisational Development, Learning & Development, or a related discipline.

  • Coaching certification and extensive facilitation experience.

  • Strong knowledge and practical application of South African Skills Development, Employment Equity, and BBBEE legislation.

  • Additional certification in assessment methodologies, psychometrics, or development assessment tools would be advantageous.

Why this role matters

This role will play a pivotal part in ensuring our organisation has the leadership capability, critical skills, and talent pipelines needed to succeed in an increasingly complex and evolving business environment.

You will have the opportunity to influence strategic decisions, partner directly with senior leaders across the region, and help shape the future workforce of a leading organisation operating across Sub-Saharan Africa.
