TACOM (WVA): Project Engineer (Contingency)

Program Summary
The U.S. Army Tank-automotive and Armaments Command (TACOM) sustains the Army’s mission to develop, acquire, field, and sustain ground combat, tactical, and support systems throughout their lifecycle. The program focuses on ensuring operational readiness, reliability, and safety of automotive and ground support equipment critical to Army operations.
Under this contract, personnel provide maintenance, repair, overhaul, and sustainment support in accordance with Army technical manuals, safety standards, and performance requirements.

Job Summary
The Project Engineer provides engineering and technical support for maintenance, modernization, and sustainment activities in support of TACOM operations. The engineer is responsible for planning, coordinating, and executing engineering-related tasks to ensure projects are completed within scope, schedule, and performance requirements. This role supports process improvements, technical problem resolution, and compliance with applicable standards to maintain equipment in a Fully Mission Capable (FMC) status.

Roles and Responsibilities 
•    Plan, coordinate, and execute engineering projects in support of maintenance, repair, and modernization efforts
•    Provide technical guidance and engineering support for troubleshooting and resolving complex equipment and system issues
•    Review and interpret technical manuals, engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions
•    Support development and implementation of engineering solutions to improve system performance, reliability, and maintainability
•    Coordinate with maintenance, production, and logistics personnel to support project execution and operational requirements
•    Monitor project schedules, milestones, and deliverables to ensure timely completion in accordance with PWS requirements
•    Ensure compliance with applicable Army regulations, engineering standards, and quality requirements
•    Support configuration management and engineering change processes
•    Prepare technical reports, analyses, and documentation to support project requirements and decision-making
•    Participate in inspections, audits, and readiness evaluations to ensure compliance with contract and regulatory requirements
•    Ensure compliance with environmental, health, and safety (EHS) and quality assurance/quality control (QA/QC) standards

Basic Qualifications 
•    Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field)
•    Typically 3-5 years of experience in engineering, maintenance, or sustainment support within a DoD, government, or industrial environment
•    Ability to read, interpret, and apply technical manuals, engineering drawings, and specifications
•    Experience with project coordination, scheduling, and technical problem-solving
•    Knowledge of maintenance and sustainment operations, including troubleshooting and repair processes
•    Strong analytical, organizational, and communication skills
•    Ability to perform work in physically demanding environments
•    Ability to obtain or maintain a U.S. Government security clearance (as required)
•    U.S. citizenship required

Preferred Qualifications
•    Previous experience supporting DoD, Army, or TACOM programs
•    Engineer-in-Training (EIT) or Professional Engineer (PE) certification
•    Familiarity with configuration management, engineering change processes, and lifecycle sustainment
•    Experience with Army systems, reporting tools, or maintenance management systems (e.g., GCSS-Army)
•    Experience supporting government inspections, audits, and compliance programs
•    Prior government contracting experience

Additional Information
This position will be performed in office, maintenance facilities, depots, and field environments that require a combination of desk-based project work and hands-on system evaluation. Duties may involve travel between work sites in support of implementation activities. Employees may also be required to work shifts, overtime, or weekend support based on mission needs.

The salary range for this position is $128,800 - $193,200. Compensation offered will depend on qualifications, experience, work location, and business considerations. This range reflects the minimum and maximum target compensation for the position at the time of posting and may be modified in the future. Additional compensation and benefits may be available based on role eligibility.
