The Staff Engineer, Cloud Platforms & Operations is a senior technical leader responsible for designing, building, and optimizing scalable, secure cloud platforms that support enterprise and healthcare applications. This role drives high-impact initiatives across infrastructure and software engineering teams, championing automation, reliability, and operational excellence. The Staff Engineer, Cloud Platforms & Operations manages large, cross-functional projects and contributes to the definition and execution of long-range departmental goals, including financial and strategic planning. This role operates with a high degree of autonomy and delivers solutions that significantly influence departmental results and the broader technology roadmap.Oracle DBA
- Experience administering Oracle databases (19c).
- Proficient in RMAN backup & recovery, Data Pump, and patching.
- Knowledge of ASM, and Data Guard.
- Performance tuning using AWR/ASH reports and query optimization.
- Experience with PL/SQL scripting.
AWS Cloud Skills
- Hands-on experience with core AWS services: EC2, RDS, Redshift, Document DB, S3, IAM, CloudWatch, Lambda, etc.
- Infrastructure as Code (IaC) experience with Terraform.
- Understanding of networking concepts: VPC, Subnets, Security Groups, etc.
- Familiarity with RDS snapshots and monitoring and logging using CloudWatch.
Linux/Unix Systems
- Strong command-line skills for Amazon Linux.
- Shell scripting for automation (Bash, cron jobs).
- System performance tuning and troubleshooting.
- Understanding of file systems, process management, and system logs.
RDS MySQL / Aurora MySQL
- Hands-on experience managing Amazon RDS/Aurora MySQL instances.
- Backup/restore strategy implementation and monitoring.
- Query optimization, slow query analysis, and parameter tuning.
Preferred
AWS Document DB
- Experience in managing Document DB clusters.
- Monitoring and scaling practices.
Amazon Redshift
- Understanding the basics of Redshift database.
- Data distribution, sort keys, and compression techniques.
Tools & DevOps
- Dynatrace, Bitbucket, Git, CI/CD tools for DB deployment and automation.
