This position is a 1.0 FTE located at Abingdon Elementary School.
Qualifications
Must have or be eligible for Virginia licensure.
Must have or be eligible for reading endorsement (masters in reading or masters in another teaching area plus reading endorsement).
Dual endorsement in English as a Second Language and/or Special Education, or in any other content area, is preferred but not required.
Experience
Three years of classroom experience, preferably elementary experience.
Responsibilities
Willingness to work as part of a team.
Current knowledge regarding language arts research and practice.
Current knowledge of language arts materials including core programs, supplementary programs, and children's literature.
Current knowledge of both group and individual assessment and how to interpret the results.
Ability to lead team meetings and language arts committees as needed.
Salary
Salary will be based on the FY2026-27 salary schedule.
